Elena: I don’t want to see Damon right now, I can’t imagine any good parts I might’ve forgotten that would compensate all the bad that I do.
Damon: I will go to her dorm and push her boundaries talking about our past relationships that she doesn’t remember, talk creepy shit like “you don’t know how long I’ve wanted to hear you breathing” and threaten to kick her door in. That will certainly show her I’m boyfriend material.

It’s happening! Elena’s mind and heart are clashing. I think the very second that she heard that Damon was back, her heart stirred. But even with the knowledge that she loved this man, it confused the hell out of her. Because her mind and her heart aren’t coinciding. And I think that is what had her so terrified. And once that terror shifted from facing Damon to losing him all over again, that’s when she decide she couldn’t live without the truth. Because the feeling of losing Damon, that terror, felt familiar to her. And she couldn’t live with that feeling without knowing why. And that line above is this storyline in a nutshell. It’s proof that her feelings for Damon aren’t gone like she says they are. Those feelings are still there. But her mind isn’t allowing her to trust them. So, this journey that she is about to take of looking at Damon with all that she knows and all that she doesn’t and trusting how she feels is what’s going to help her breakthrough the compulsion and find her way back to him.

I love this whole concept saying that Elena’s life is literally just a lie without Damon in it. The idea that what is real is them. Their love for each other. That’s reality. And its a reality that Elena was back to being afraid to face. I know, I’ve mention this before but I love how the tables have turned. I love the fact that its now Damon that is confident in their love for each other… especially in her love for him. He died knowing that he was loved by Elena Gilbert, and he’ll be damned if he has to live with her not remembering that she ever did. So, I’m glad that he has enough confident to fight for her. And I hope he talks to her more about all the things she doesn’t remember. I hope that through his self worth he shows her that he is worthy of her trying to love him again. You guys… It’s from hate to truth all over again. And this time he will help her find the truth. Because he is her truth.
