spinal taps are scary
just had my second ever lumbar puncture, but this time it was done under CT, and while it was easier to get through, getting it done manually is actually alot less painful. Given my doctor was very good, the only problems i had the first time was i felt too hot and like i was going to feint cause i was too bundled up in a fetal position. Anyway, there practically no wait time - last time i waited 2 hours to be seen. I go in and i dont have to take off my underwear - which is excellent - because LAST time literally everybody could see my vagina through the mesh underwear, and it was awful. Anyway, i go on to the bed and into the machine. I get to lie down comfortably. There are lights in the ceiling that look like you’re lying down beneath a cherry blossom, which is nice. i go in and out the scanner a few times then they finally start the procedure. There are like 2 doctors and 3 technicians in the room. The doctor inserts the needle and i immediately flinch, it hurt rly bad and i had a hard time relaxing after this. Last time they first inserted topical anesthetics but this time it was only local (no needle) and i FELT it go through my vertebrae and i felt kinda like a pop into the nervous coloumn. Now it hurt. I was feeling light headed and sick but i kept on pressing. It was a weird feeling, no sharp, but dull. A healthy person extracts about 16cm within half an hour drainage. My first LP i had 50 cm in 15 minutes. That was dangerously high. Today it was only at 28cm within 15 minutes. So no remission for me (yet). I felt this sharp pinching where the needle was (and - to be REALLY tmi - between my legs) then the pinching started to travel up and down my spine, and i was YELLING cause it hurt SO BAD. anyway, thats when they called it quits and i had to lay down flat for 1.5 hours which SUCKED. Anyway, my mum was really upset she couldn’t be in there with me but i preferred it that way. Sometimes i feel she is suffering more through all this than i am and its really kinda annoying cause shes just SO worried. Anyway, my wisdom teeth are still hurting my jaw and they could be the cause to my headaches, but i still have pressure through the roof in my brain and no real solution :( and i still have to go to work tomorrow. But gotdamn am i DONE for the day.
