whump prompt
Whumpee got their teeth knocked out and since then became ashamed of their smile, so they hide it and avoid speaking as much as possible. When they do, they put a hand over their mouth, or wear a mask. It’s harder for them to eat, too, but they don’t say anything, because they’re used to it/don’t want to worry Caretaker.
Bonus points if they also have dentophobia.
I’ve always been a dinosaur kid.
As a child, I flipped through shiny atlases,
I learned their names in latin
And they stuck to my tongue like calluses.
Latin is the old and dead language,
Despite the roots still poking out.
It still lingers in pieces, even on this page,
And those dinosaurs linger in my mouth.
A study states
Their fossils are in our blood,
They come from devastating wastes,
Even mountains and oceans have succumbed.
They “travel around the body
And may lodge in organs.”
I would welcome them wholeheartedly
If the words would pass my sore gums.
It’s so much more than haunting.
Once again, they roam the earth and seas,
And these new cities must seem so daunting-
Nothing is the same, not even the breeze.
If extinction comes for us again,
At least we will go together.
Perhaps finally content
Melding with the ether.
