Ruined

"If you can make your way back to the city," Whumper had said as they shoved Whumpee out of the car, "I promise I won't hurt you."

Whumpee had opened their mouth to beg and plead with Whumper not to abandon them here out in the desert, but Whumper had tossed a folded map out the window and sped away, cackling madly.

That had been hours--days?--ago and Whumpee had been wandering ever since. They had unfolded the map quickly, reasoning the sooner they started the sooner they could get home. It was still dark out and perhaps they wouldn't have to wander under the hot sun for long.

They were wrong.

Not only was the map missing a piece on the top left corner, but it was badly stained and worn in the middle. It was completely ruined.

Whumpee had lost a lot of time sobbing. How were they going to get home without the map? Would Whumper come back for them and hurt them? How were they going to survive?

They weren't sure how long they cried for. They only knew the sun was high and hot when they stood up and began to trudge along the dirt road that Whumper had taken. They could follow the tire treads back, they reasoned. They were embarrassed it took them that long to figure that out.

As they walked for hours--days?--they tried not to lose hope. Whumper had driven for a long time to bring them here. They just had to keep going. The heat was getting to them, they realized as they stumbled. Their mouth had long dried out and their body was beginning to protest the heat. They needed to get out of the sun's brutal heat. They needed somewhere to rest before they got heat stroke and couldn't continue on.

But as Whumpee spun in a circle looking for anything that could bring them respite, they realized there was nothing. They were so completely alone in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to go or hide except along the road.

Whumpee prayed they could push through and make it back to the city before they collapsed. I twas the only thing they could do.

hey! sorry i've been inactive lately. my beloved cat sadly passed away this monday and im devastated. he was everything to me. wanna take this opportunity to hug extra tight to everyone who recently lost a pet. and to tell them i genuinely hope you all can find peace and comfort in your loved ones. take your time, don't let other people tell you how to live your own grief. the pain you feel is valid, even though you believe "people have it worse". i won't tell you what to believe and i don't know whats behind death either, but lately i've been looking at the sky, picturing my cat playing with my childhood cat in the clouds, eating all the tuna they want, and, somehow, i found peace knowing that if there is something after death, he must be happier now. i don't care if there is nothing after, i would never now, i would never find it out, but as long as i don't know, i wanna pretend he is up there, enjoying afterlife with others cats, because if souls exists, there is absolutely no way he doesn't have one.

i will miss you forever my boy, mami loves you <3

It figures, they were on a trip and got separated from the group in a nature hike no less in the middle of the woods. But it wasn’t as if civilization was too far off, so it wasn’t all so bad, but Ayano reassured Natsuki, “We’ll be fine, okay? We can probably make it back to town in a day or two on foot, but I think they’ll send people after us by then.” She was more open with herself with Natsuki who knew her emotional state somewhat, so her tone didn’t have too much emotion as it did with people she pretended with.
