The school nurse and the witch doctor
(Quick note if this comes up “-example-” the words in between the lines are what Hugo are saying in his notebook)
Hugo sat in the staff room with the other teachers of Night Raven, Crowley said it was important they come as soon as possible yesterday.
"Do you think we're getting fired?" Ashton asked.
"I don't see why we would be, besides you and Divus have Anita and she is just a baby so it definitely isn't likely." Mozus responded.
"Still, I wonder what could be so important…"
Hugo just sat there, 'In all honesty I have seen Crowley looking through papers lately, it's clear we're probably getting a new staff member, he would never call us in this early if we weren't.'
Suddenly the man they had all been waiting for arrived.
"Good morning to you all! As you may have guessed, I have very big news!"
"Sir, could you make this quick? We had to wake up early and we had to bring Anita with us." Divus stated, pointing to his sleeping daughter in Ashton’s arms.
"Yes of course, I wouldn't want to wake the baby, but anyway, we have a new staff member joining us, I want you all to welcome Sam, our new staff member."
Everyone looked to the door as someone walked in.
Hugo felt his face heat up as he watched this new staff member walk in, he was absolutely gorgeous, thin, dark skin, striking eyes and hair that looked soft to the touch.
The man bowed "It's nice to meet you all, I'm Sam, I'll be working with you all as of today."
Hugo continued to stare at the man as Crowley introduced him to the other staff members.
Hugo snapped out of his trance as he heard his name said, he scrambled to grab his notebook as Sam spoke to him.
"It's nice to meet you, Hugo Kingman."
Hugo's cheeks flared pink and he roughly wrote out a response.
-It's nice to meet you too-
Sam smiled and laughed, "Can't talk can you?"
Hugo shook his head quickly.
Sam held out his hand which Hugo quickly took in his own and shook it.
"Well, guess I'll be seeing you around then, I'll be spending the better part of today and tomorrow getting comfortable, moving in, maybe come by and help me if you want." Sam said.
Hugo nodded furiously and scribbled in his notebook.
Divus turned around as he felt a tap on his shoulder, there behind him was Hugo, holding his notebook close.
"Ah, Hugo, what seems to be the problem?"
-It's about our new staff member, he makes me feel weird, like my face got really hot when he looked at me.-
Divus laughed, "You're in love, it's clear to see that."
-love? Is that a sickness?-
"Are you serious? Did you not see mine and Ashton's wedding? It's a feeling, an emotion"
-I guess I've never felt love before-
Divus sighed, "You have a lot to learn, come with me, Ashton is helping Sam unpack in his apartment."
Hugo walked into the apartment, looking around curiously, it had been a long time since he’d seen a clean staff apartment.
“Well well well, if it isn’t the school nurse, it’s good to see you again”
Hugo’s face heated up again as he felt Sam come up behind him, turning around quickly to face him.
“Hello to you too, I’m glad you’re here,” Sam said as he grabbed his hand, “You wouldn’t mind helping me unpack would you?”
Hugo pulled his hand away slowly, -No not at all-
Sam smiled, “Well I’m glad you will, Mr. Vargas was telling me about how the two of you were roommates back in the day, I’d love to hear more from your side.”
-Right, though it might be hard since I can’t speak-
“Right right, of course.” Sam laughed.
“Thanks for coming over to help you guys, I'll be seeing you around, then." Sam said as he waved.
"It was no problem, me and Divus better get going, Anita can't stand being away from us for too long." Ashton replied.
Hugo looked around nervously as Ashton and Divus left, 'Should I go now? But he hasn't said goodbye yet…so what should I-'
"So, thanks for helping me out today, I'll be seeing you later right?"
-I will, I hope to see you again.-
"I think I will, well…hey could I do something really quick?"
Sam then grabbed Hugo's hand in his own and lifted it up, kissing it softly.
Hugo's face heated up quickly as Sam pulled away and smiled at him, "That's how we say hello in New Orleans to handsome people~"
Hugo backed up while his face lit up more
"So he kissed your hand a few weeks ago, that's a good sign for you, he must like you." Divus explained as Hugo lied on one of the infirmary beds, his face buried in the pillow.
“Look maybe ask him out, take him on a date to the lounge, me and Ashton did it, you can too.”
Hugo sat up and looked at Divus, grabbing his notebook.
-You keep bringing up how you and Ashton started dating but I’m not you and I’m not Ashton, things probably wouldn’t work out between me and Sam, besides compared to him I’m a freakshow.-
Divus sighed, “Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re handsome, not as handsome as my darling but still handsome, so go down to his shop, say you want to buy something and when you go to checkout ask if he’s free and then pop the question.”
Hugo nodded and stood from the bed.
-You’re right, I will, be right back-
Hugo nervously opened the door to the newly opened school store, he walked in and immediately began admiring the decor of the shop, the talismans, the crystals and whatever else the the store seemed to be selling.
“Well hello my dear co-worker.”
Hugo stopped admiring the decor and turned to see the man standing behind the front counter, smiling warmly at him.
-Hello, I thought I’d stop by to maybe window shop-
“Of course but if you want to buy something I do have a suggestion.”
‘Maybe a suggestion would help us grow closer…’ Hugo thought.
Sam smiled widely as Hugo walked over to the counter and gave him a look of curiosity.
“I’m glad you want to take it, I’ve noticed you wear that medical mask all the time so I wanted to find one that I thought would fit you better.”
Sam pulled out a black bandana with a skeleton mouth design.
Hugo’s eyes lit up and Sam smiled, “I’d knew you like it and it can be yours on the house but only if you do something for me, just one thing.”
Sam smiled and grabbed the same hand he had many times before, “Will you join me tonight at a nice little cafe outside the school? I want to take you on a date.”
Hugo blushed but nodded quickly, not pulling away his hand.
“Then I’ll be seeing you tonight, say about six?”
“Look at you buddy, going on your first date! This is great news! Ashton exclaimed while he stood behind Hugo who was getting ready.
-It’s normal to feel panicked right?-
“Of course it is, remember when Divus asked me out on our first date? I was a wreck, now stay still I have to polish your horns and you really need to brush your hair out.”
“It’s going to be ok, you’ll have a fun time, Sam seems like a nice guy, maybe wear the bandana he gave you.”
Hugo smiled under the bandana he was wearing as he walked back to the college with Sam, hand in hand, thinking about the date they just had.
‘We had some coffee, we ate some cake, he cleaned my cheek at one point...what a wonderful date.’
“So Hugo, thanks for joining me tonight.” Sam said to him as they approached the college, “I’d like to ask you something, do you mind?”
Hugo shook his head and motioned for him to continue.
“Would you be willing to be my boyfriend?”
Hugo nodded, squeezing Sam’s hand in his own.
Sam smiled at him, “Thank you, I love you.”
The two of them walked into the college and Hugo bent down, kissing Sam’s cheek and pulling away.
“So, want to come sleep in my room tonight?”
