This just in: Truscum fucking hate good music
one time when i was younger i saw a littlest pet shop lgbt explanation video and it was some really truscumy/exclus nonsense
and like the creator of it made a follow-up video and said something like "im sorry for putting genderfluid in the previous video someone in the comments told me that wasnt actually a thing :3 !! <3" like goodness gracious i cant believe i almost took all that to heart
and also there was a character that represented people who "are new/dont know much" or something and they wanted to be plantgender (iirc) but nooooooo like,,, just let that poor plastic animal be plantgender shut up lollll
still pissed that when you Google “plumbella pronouns” one of the first things that shows up is truscum insulting her, saying she can’t be nb bc she uses she/her pronouns, and implying she’s just being lead on because she’s autistic (which fuck you that’s SICKENING ableism and also y’know Literally The Fucking JKR Argument) I am going to throw hands
Hey there! I was reading your DNI and I was wondering what transmed/transcum is? I've never heard of the term, and I wanna make sure I'm not violating your DNI!! :D
I Oh well that's very sweet to ask and be worried about that sort of thing. I feel like since you don't know what the word means you're probably not one, but I'll explain:
Transmed is short for transmedicalism. It's someone who believes you need to meet certain requirements in order to be trans e.g. dysphoria, surgery, hormones. This can often lead to some transmeds not believing in non-binary people or non-binary genders. Truscum is just another word for the same thing. I've seen some transmeds say they aren't one of the radical ones and they support non-binary people and would never harass a trans person, but I'm sorry I cannot be friendly with someone who believes they are rules on how to be trans.
As a genderfluid person, what would a transmed think of me? As a trans man who doesn't want bottom surgery because I don't have bottom dysphoria what would a transmed think of me? I do experience a lot of other types of dysphoria but look,
I know the idea of trans people not having dysphoria can seem weird at first, but we should not tell all trans people they have to hate their bodies and feel sick about themselves in order to be trans. Gender euphoria exists and is valid. A trans person can have no dysphoria about their birth gender, but feel happy and more comfortable being referred as a different gender and that is valid. And what about genderfluid people who switch between their birth gender and other genders and so only have dysphoria sometimes? What about an AFAB demigirl who feels some connection to her birth gender but not entirely? What about non-binary and agender people who don't have dysphoria and want a different body because there is no one set type of non-binary body, any type of body can be a non-binary body. So transmeds are saying AFAB non-binary people have to have dysphoria and want to look like AMAB people, but AMAB people have to want the reverse? So what? You're only non-binary if you're AFAB and had top surgery or AMAB and had bottom surgery? What rules do transmeds want non-binary trans people to follow? They don't know because non-binary people never came into their equation when they came up with this stupid belief. Binary trans people cannot dictate how dysphoria effects non-binary people and what dysphoria looks like for non-binary people.
And there's so many binary trans people against gender euphoria, who say gender euphoria doesn't exist and it's actually just sexual arousal and say that any trans woman who doesn't have dysphoria and has gender euphoria is actually just a man with a fetish who is trying to get into women's spaces WAIT A MINUTE THIS IS WHAT TERFS BELIEVE. You go deep into into this belief and your beliefs start to align with terfs, your beliefs align with cis transphobes.
Being trans isn't a choice. What you personally think is dysphoria, may not be what someone else thinks is dysphoria. A trans person who doesn't feel that they experience dysphoria can still get upset when misgendered. You may that then they must have dysphoria, but they might not see it that way. If you think "hey I don't feel super sick about my birth gender but this other gender feels so much better and makes me happy and I feel better using these other pronouns", you didn't choose to feel better with those other pronouns. You just did. Because that wasn't a choice for you.
And think about how many people you harm by strictly saying only the most extreme dysphoric people are really trans. Think about how many trans people you've convinced aren't trans. Think about how many trans people you've convinced don't have dysphoria when they do, just because you didn't think their dysphoria was bad enough or the same as yours. And saying people can't look a certain way or like wearing certain things because a trans man can't wear a pink dress and be a real trans man because the pink dress would make him dysphoric?? I'm sorry, clothing and colours have no gender. You'd praise a cis man for wearing that. But a trans person does something that's thought of as being in line with their birth gender and now they're not really trans?
And look, trans people do not owe you a display of their dysphoria. Dysphoria is personal and a transmed harassing someone who they think has no dysphoria, that person very well may have dysphoria. I've seen so many trans people who have dysphoria but don't talk publicly about it, are saving up for hormones and surgery but don't talk publicly about it, get harassed by transmeds because they're assuming that everyone who doesn't talk about their dysphoria all the time must not have dysphoria. You are not entitled to know if someone has dysphoria, you are not entitled to someone's mental health information, you are not entitled to the details of someone's dysphoria. None of this info should have to be made public to stop a trans person from getting accused of 'not really being trans'.
I think there is an idea that dysphoria always means the most extreme awful feelings. When some people define dysphoria as simply having a preference for a gender that isn't your birth gender, feeling that disconnect with your birth gender. And oh wait that's what dysphoria means, it's having that unease or disconnect, but so many people are told their dysphoria isn't painful enough or convinced that they don't actually have dysphoria, often by transmeds. How many people have been shoved back into the closet?
Sorry that became a bit of a rant, and none of that annoyance is directed at you anon. Trans people should all support each other. I know a lot of it comes from a place of 'I went through all this pain and dysphoria so shouldn't everyone else have too?' and no. No they shouldn't. Everyone else shouldn't have to go through pain. No one has to prove that we're trans to anyone, not even other trans people. It's not possible to do that unless we find a way to read people's minds. Stop calling people 'transtrenders'. How can you say no trans person fakes being trans for attention and then call people 'transtrenders'? Stop saying there are trans people who "don't take being trans seriously".
This shouldn't always be a miserable existence. Every trans person should be able to find joy in being trans, find gender euphoria. I wish that for every trans person, whether you're a transmed or not. I'm sorry you have had a miserable experience, but that doesn't mean the only true trans journey is one full of misery. I know a lot of them are coming from a place of hurt, please do not go and harass them, this isn't a post advocating the harassment of transmeds. I've seen too many trans people who used to be transmeds who feel awful and guilty and feel better now they're out of that community that made them themselves feel like they had to prove they were trans constantly. everyone i have seen who has gotten out of transmed circles said their time there made their dysphoria worse. I know transmeds are hurting, but forcing other trans people to be more dysphoric will not help stop that hurting.
There is only one type of person who is contributing to real world transphobia and it isn't non-binary people or ace people or pan people or people using neopronouns or xenogenders. The only type of person who is contributing to real world transphobia is a cis transphobe. Governments and politicians and actual transphobes think that you're binary trans gender is as ridiculous as non-binary genders and xenogenders. Trans rights aren't at a standstill because top tier politicians know about the catboy gender, it's because they think the basic principle of being a binary trans person is untrue or laughable and they just don't care. Let people figure themselves out, let people explore themselves, let trans people and trans kids be happy.
To be clear, when I say "fuck off transphobes," that includes truscum.
Looking for other transmascs to follow is surprisingly hard because I get like two posts into a blog that's not owned by a minor and BAM truscum transmeds bullshit :(
Hey sorry if this is a dumb question but what is a terf? I'm trying to get used to internet slang, social media, LGBTQ stuff and everything. I've only just recently got tumblr and a few other social medias cuz I'm finally a not a minor and not controlled by my parents. Sorry if this is a weird ask, I've been seriously sheltered by oppressively religious parents and family and I just wanna catch up in everything I don't know and have missed
Hello, love! No need to be sorry, this is a great question. You should never be ashamed for trying to educate yourself and grow. There are a few terms like this that will come up, so I will define a few!
TERF stands for Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist, which is someone who claims to be a feminist but excludes specifically transgender women from their communities, sometimes going as far as to harm them, doxx them, or generally make them feel unwelcome in women’s (or other) spaces. The TERFs claim that transgender women are aggressive, dangerous, predators, or faking their identity to invade women's spaces. I will not mince my words when I say, they (TERFs) are destructive, angry, lonely people who have learned to use hatred to keep them warm. A transgender woman is as much of a woman as a cis one, and true feminism must be intersectional and support our trans sisters.
Transmedicalist/Transmeds/Trucum are synonyms for a person who believes that you must have dysphoria to be transgender. This often seems understandable to many people, but here are the facts. Scientists and doctors have reported that dysphoria is not what makes a person transgender. It is a symptom that some people experience, but plenty does not. There are many ways to know you’re transgender, including gender euphoria. Dysphoria is real and hard. But it is not universal. Transmeds have grown more aggressive over time and are a very damaging group. This is especially prominent in transmasculine communities.
Exclusionists are people who gatekeep the queer community. Whether they exclude nonbinary people, pansexual people, bisexual people, asexual people, or others, they are causing extreme harm. They often create strict rules and barriers for gender and sexuality that are based in white supremacy, capitalism, and ableism.
I urge you not to interact with any of these groups. Many young people get drawn into these spaces and come out on the other side filled with regret and shame for what they have done to alienate and punish the people around them. I have had first-hand experience of the abuse from these communities and it leaves you with significant trauma and debilitating self-doubt. Remember! Always do your own research. Don’t just take my word for it, read academic journals, reputable sources of journalism, and the queer experience.
Keep asking questions! And I hope to hear from you again!

Hi!! So, I was looking through you're rules and was wondering if you could tell me what "transcum" means? I myself am not that but I don't know what it means :) sorry if this makes you Uncomfortable!
It’s totally fine, it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all! I’m always happy to educate people. Also I didn’t know what a term meant on someone’s dni list recently so I totally get it.
So basically truscum/transmeds/transmedicalists believe that to be a “real” trans person you must have dysphoria and transition medically all the way. And it’s totally fine if people do that btw! Having dysphoria and wanting a full transition is totally fine. But believing that that is the only way to be trans excludes lots of trans people, both binary and non-binary.
Also, transmeds are often just seeking validation from cis people. Trans people don’t need the cis approval. No one (but especially lgbtqia+ individuals) should be forced/coerced to conform to society’s expectations.
Also also, transmed beliefs medicalizes being trans, which is not what we want. Being trans isn’t a disorder, an illness, or anything that has to be fixed. Transmeds often are ashamed of being trans and feel like they must pass at all times (back to the conforming to the cis thing) Being trans is okay. Not passing is okay.
Hope this helps on what truscum/transmeds are and also why they’re bad.
