I love sitting during sunrise and sunset
It’s a great time to reflect or just let out every thought in your head that built up over the day
Even if letting those thoughts out just leads to more melancholy
There’s still yet something oddly bittersweet about sunset and sunrise
These ancient celestial masses of cosmic fire and rock
Incomprehensibly old
And yet
Still as ultimately finite as you, making them mortal too
Continuing to light the day and night against all odds
To shine down upon this barren rock we call home
To give their energy to control our tides and help guide us through the stormy seas of existence
There’s a sense of Sisyphean persistence in that
And endless struggle to overtake one another only ends in perfect equilibrium
Achieving an ultimate balance that ends with the mutually assured destruction of all things
As all is allotted their time under the sun and moon
To chase after extending it is pointless vanity, a foolish endeavor serving only to further exacerbate feelings of stress anxiety and nihilism
Though one day it is all set to end
There is no doubt in my mind that even after the end of time life will persist
Even after the ultimate entropic fate of physical reality has come forth
Nothing can never truly exist
So as we were born from nothing
And as to nothing we shall return
The cycle will begin anew
So, after all this
I leave you with one humble question
do you love the colors of the sky?
I do
I do a lot.
