I’m on the edge, the edge of a meltdown and or a split.
Trixie is an alter who recently split off from either me or zace and i am thoroughly convinced she is on every drug simultaneously.

Is it just me who thinks it's weird af that this person is obsessed with Split, Glass and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? I mean, the whole Jekyll/Hyde thing is basically a parody of DID and the two other movies are a gross misrepresentation of it so the fact that someone claiming to have DID is obsessed with these medias is...Idk, weird?
I am really trying to refrain from engaging in speculating on the validity of anyone’s diagnosis, but I will say that I find it difficult to understand how anyone with DID could be a fan of that type of media in that way.
I actually watch a lot of DID media and I love talking about it with people, but I do it so that I can tell people exactly what media gets wrong. I love being able to say “Yeah I saw Split and here’s what was accurate and here’s what was totally ridiculous.” It’s been a really great way for me to talk to Singlets about DID and educate them.
These blogs just feel like fetishization of DID and mental illness.
Having DID is not an excuse to engage in behaviors that are harmful to the DID community at large, and fetishizing harmful depictions of DID is harmful.
I just stumbled on a Split/Glass fan/shipping blog run by someone who who says they have DID.
I just don’t understand... I know people with DID who are angry as hell about all the things that Split does wrong, but who still appreciated the acting in the movie or a particular aspect of the movie, and that I totally get. Like I absolutely love James McAvoy and his acting is brilliant, so I get that.
I just don’t grasp how someone with DID could go as far as to run a fan blog about Split/Glass and to ship that offensive trainwreck of a character with anyone.
Honestly, this is what I absolutely hate about media depictions of DID. It makes me wary of people in the community because I’m scared that they are just fans of the movie. I don’t want to open myself up to other people and talk about my issues with people, thinking that they are like me and share my struggles, only to find out that they are just movie fans.
I have had that happen more than once. I had something similar happen recently. I trusted someone. I shared my struggles and my trauma with them and then I found out they were just someone who was fascinated by DID and writing fiction. It felt so violating.
Edit: I just want to clarify that this isn’t a callout post and I’m not saying this person doesn’t have DID. I’m just saying that I find it really hard to understand how someone with DID can run a fan blog for Split and Glass and ship people from those films. Don’t they understand how offensive and hurtful that is to the community?
My roommates sister is in my dorm and she saw a trailer for Spit and then she proceeded to announce to everyone that “WE should go see it.”
After I just got done explaining to her that the movie is fucking disgusting and that we should not go see it.
I want to throw up and I am honestly getting so close to just transferring to a school closer to home because this is getting too out of hand. I shouldn’t feel uncomfortable in my own dorm because my roommates and friends talk about shit that is so against my nature.
I understand that we are going to come from different places, but they should respect the fact that I am an unapologetic queer person who has depression and is super sensitive about mental disorders and problems in the world.
I was talking about something and my roommate looks at me and calls me a feminist like that is a bad thing and something that should be looked down at.
My roommate is on the phone with her boyfriend and she just said she wanted to see the movie Split. I literally got nauseous after she said that. I am so uncomfortable with this movie and I really hate that people actually want to see this movie.
