made the iconic trio with my yotavus base that i will not be using for literally every yotavus oc that i have
ft. siblings with slightly odd genetics, summer clothes for when you live right beneath the northern polar circle, and some character notes. more below the cut as usual :)
Characters
In̊yic, Dilu, and Nan̊a are the children of Twulin̊ and Aec̊eda. Mother and father respectively (though a human lens at least), the pair of them want nothing to do with their offspring, leaving them in the care of Twulin̊'s sister and grandmother in favor of furthering their careers in the vast reaches of space. Since they're kind of shitty to most people in their lives beyond each other, their careers are kind of trapped in orbit around Taŧeșě. Having experienced twice now his parents stopping by only to drop off a new sibling before fucking back off into outer space, In̊yic is not a fan of his parents. He's rather quiet about it, in stark comparison to Dilu, who takes every moment she can to be a hater. Nan̊a is still quite young (developmentally around 7 or 8 earth years old) and doesn't have much attachment to his biological parents at all; neither positive nor negative.
They live in a medium-ish town in the far north of an already northern country: Twuay, Ilsahua. Twuay is located right beneath the planet's northern polar circle, and has an economy based mainly in fishing during the summers.
In̊yic works on the boat with his grandmother since he's a full grown adult. As a human he'd probably be about 20-23. He's a very quiet person overall. Dilu is very direct, and she will speak her mind often and LOUDLY. She's around 11-13, and also terrified of the ocean. Nan̊a is really sweet, but also really shy with strangers.
They're all of the Northern H̊lanueli ethnic group, and speak the Twelya subdialect. The cultures of the northern peninsula are very different from those along the southern coasts and further down in the continents interior deserts, but still hold a reverence for water in all forms.
Clothes
First up is my friend In̊yic! he's got on a simple fishing coat, which doubles as some shorts. In winter, he would wear this with layers underneath and proper boots, but in summer he does notttttt gaf. The patch on the back of the left side is "borrowed" from his father's old fishing coat, since it was made from the same material. Dilu may or may not have torn it in the first place trying to play around with a fishing rod. The red wrapping is partially decoration, and partially to avoid going Missing in the ocean if you fall overboard. He's also got on some loose cloth anklets made with some embroidered fabric from the same batch as what his coat's made of, and some simple leather sandals.
Next is Dilu! She's of an age where she'd be transitioning from only indoor chores to helping out in the outdoors, and thus has recently acquired a bunch of cool fits to show off her brand new privileges. Starting at the top, those ear covers are typically worn by adults, and don't really work if you have floppy little kid ears, which she has finally grown out of. It's called a sanalc̊a /ʃa.n:a.lt͡ʃa/. Then, she's got on a very nice pleated shirt with some traditional stripes called a twisad /tʷi.ʃadʲ/, which is never worn by itself. The vest on top is a more human-style thing, but she Did force her aunt to embroider the "cool earth flower" on the side. She added the little wooden good-luck charm on the right side herself. The boots, called ysayac̊ /jʃa.jat͡ʃ/, are also traditional, and have a hard sole with thin cloth for the outsides. The tail decorations are very much just to look cute. The one closer to the base of her tail is mostly leather, with a layer of decorative cloth on top, and the one near the end was stolen from the things her mother left behind when she left.
Finally, my lil' buddy Nan̊a! What you aren't able to see in this image is that he's a fuzzball with ears just a bit too big for the rest of him lol. This justifies the cap having ear holes. His coat is a well-kept hand-me-down and is currently the only article of clothing his family can wrangle him into before he goes off to play outside. Luckily, clothing in their region is more for survival than for modesty, so no one is that bugged about it. His unusually dark fur also keeps him a bit warmer than anyone else. Classic fashion faux pas socks and sandals, featuring some odd 3 toe socks to go with his middle strap sandals. The middle 2 toes stay together in the middle. On his tail he's got a fun little band decorated with wooden and bone beads, and then another tail bracelet made fully out of wood but carved to look like metal.
So What's Up With Their Fur, Anyways?
I mentioned earlier their ethnic group, and visually both In̊yic and Dilu look like the norm for this: fawn fur with dark, rounded stripes, scattered patches of white, and decently saturated matti/neck ruffs. However, genetically, the elder two are not True Fawn, which i represent in my charts as tt, but white-ticked fawn, TC. So, if we took a closer look at their fur, we'd see a striping of the Strong Tumbleweed color (T) with the Off White color (C), similar to agouti hairs on an Earth animal.
Nan̊a is LL, which is classified as Dark Gray. This variation is because their parents are TL (False Fawn/Silver-Ticked Tumbleweed) and CL (Mottled Gray) respectively. The elder siblings ended up looking more like their aunt and maternal grandfather.
Nan̊a also has a slight curl to his fur!
Dilu's stripes are fairly symmetrical, In̊yic and Nan̊a's less so, especially around their faces.
