Hi! I’m Goldeye, the server owner of The Writer’s Block and one of the event runners for the ongoing TWB Minecraft Championships. 

We’ve just finished Round One: Hole in the Wall! Every day, a list of prompts was posted for participants. They had 24 hours to post a fic written from the daily prompt list! Participants won points by word count and by maintaining their streak every day. 

The event runners are absolutely blown away by the excitement that we see for this event. Participants wrote over 200,000 words on Day 1 alone!

Everyone had walked the temple, felt the ancient stones beneath their feet. Dwight had felt the cold of it against his cheek as he had remained sprawled out, eyes closed, waiting. Because it didn’t matter how much he moved or fought or begged, it didn’t matter how loud David’s voice echoed through the chamber, Legion’s knife would find his throat. 

It didn’t matter. It didn’t matter, it– 

“Dwight.” 

He flinched again as a hand touched his face, as Frank’s fingers curled against his jaw. And he said nothing, his heart at the back of his throat, his pulse on and on until he thought it might kill him. Why couldn’t he breathe ? 

“You hear me, buddy?” 

Frank’s voice fell quiet and gentle and for a moment Dwight let it drown him. Let himself take in the sound of the wind in the trees, of the whisper of the leaves. There were no animals here. These were not the woods of home, not the woods he had become lost in with moonshine burning down his throat, where the sounds of cicadas and distant creatures drowned out his worries.

We’ve just finished Round One: Hole in the Wall! Every day, a list of prompts was posted for participants. They had 24 hours to post a fic written from the daily prompt list! Participants won points by word count and by maintaining their streak every day.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the prompts! For each of these charts, the outer circle represents the percentage of fics fulfilling those prompts over the course of the week-long round, which counted for word count. The inner circle represents the percentage of fics fulfilling the prompts on the day they were posted - which counted towards maintaining each team’s streak!

You’ll note that Day 6 has no inner circle! Because it was the last day, participants only had one day to write those fics - so the week-long and day-long stats are identical.
