I like to think it’s there he starts to develop an interest in her.
I also like to picture her and Elora convincing unit Bravo to watch the extended version of Lord of the Rings, and they’re both silently quoting the movie and loving how into it Felix is getting. Nate and Adam both enjoy it, too, and Mason- I’m not sure how he’d like it tbh. I need to think on that- but I know he’d love how Elora eggs Felix on as though she doesn’t know what’s about to happen.

what type of gift givers do you think the different folks of the those who can universe are? i feel like ida and rosie would be so thoughtful and would remember you wanted something that you yourself don’t even remember. we know lu is super rich but i could see her having the perfect balance between that and then the most non-materialistic, sentimental gifts ever, and because those two things are paired together it’s not just purely materialistic anymore. but i need to know if she spoils jacks kids and i wanna hear your thoughts! same with benny and tilly and bucky and jack because i honestly don’t know for them.

Ida and Rosie: the self improvement gift that doesn’t hurt like that time your grandma bought you weight watchers. No, not that at all- we are talking tools or books that will help with that scholarship you wanted to get or an instrument you wanted to play, something you typically wanted but didn’t ever think to get yourself.
Bucky …now, that man can be thoughtful and he’s generous, I feel. However- useful? Nah, not always. If it’s pretty or funny as fuck? He will buy it, he doesn’t care if you’re going insane from the clutter or have never ever wanted a ceramic giraffe desk ornament- you’ve got one now. It’s all made better because it “made him think of you!!” The gift wrapping is horrendous unless Tilly or Jack did it, I know he’s wadded tissue paper around a gift before and called it a day. He’s got 10/10 confidence he got ya the best gift.
Gale? In this world? Skips birthdays and Christmases often, then drops an incredibly generous and VERY utilitarian gift outta nowhere on occasion. But for the kids? Oh he’s got all the science kits and physics toys and airplanes you gotta glue together yourself 🙌
Tilly and Jack: Ok so Tilly is sooooo frivolous but wonderful. She will buy you every cute and wonderful thing you’ve ever wanted but felt silly to spend money on. Your babies?! She finds and buys the cutest stuff ever that they don’t need but look painfully adorable in. You? Same goes for you too, all her gifts spark joy, partly because there is an almost childlike indulgence to each of them. And -shockingly?- Jack is all about it tbh, he loves seeing his own babies in folly little animal towels and he thinks the more cookie shape cutters the better the holiday. He’s got one single ounce of whimsy in his cunty ass and it all gets pulled out of him by Tilly at Christmastime. He actively participates, suggests which ones and doesn’t get irritable about the sheer amount of time spent buying these silly things. They are the ultimate “it’s from both of us” cop out couple, tho.
Benny: a DIY King, started in the stalag and kept it up, people are, after all, extremely touched by a handmade thing and he makes things worth gifting. King of the scrap yard, can find the most obscure stuff, always shines it back up to its former glory and beyond. He’s building motors from god knows what so the kids all have fleets of remote controlled toy cars before those were a thing. For the adults that’s harder for me to imagine but I know they’re so damn special. maybe he like, gets into binding books? So he will bind cool notebooks or shit for Rosie or Ida?? That sorta thing. Probably sent Lu a hand whittled perch for “her stupid ass talking bird” that Jack was always complaining about to him while she was still in college. That made her belly feel funny… but anyway. Has given Jack a sex toy or five as a joke, always says “my brother, the one stationed in Taiwan, he sent me that.” and Jack looks at him in utter disgust. Which makes it worth it to Benny.
Lu: gosh you’re so right. Honestly such a good gift giver, beyond what you mentioned which I fully agree with, I also see her as someone who collects these things allllll year. She’s been buying things you need and want every time she saw it wherever it was, no matter the time or price. I wanna be more like Lu next year 🤣
Look, there are more and there’s more to discuss for each of these but this is what I have that springs to mind while in the middle of my own happy Christmas mayhem. sorry guys the idea popped into my brain and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since, so. let me just drop the best/worst f headcanon ever
okay so based on the book, published in 2018, f dropped through the portal seven years prior, so like 2011 right? as someone who was a freshman in high school at 2011, hoooo boy, let me just lay out a scenario for you.
it’s f’s first few months in our realm. they’re still struggling to learn english and are most likely not socialized in the slightest and are overwhelmingly lonely at times. of course there’s some times where they’re not supervised, so of course they’re gonna get access to things they shouldn’t have (as most kids do).
picture this: f gets access to a computer for the first time. (it’s 2011. imagine. do your worst) f spends hours on youtube just giggling their ass off as they learn our humor at its absolute lowest. (i googled videos popular in 2011 just to remind myself, and i love imagining f watching all of them)
f watches the lonely island and weird al religiously. they watch fail videos. they become obsessed with adele and sob to “someone like you” the first time they hear it and realize what it means. f discovers twilight and is confused because do american vampires sparkle? f identified as a gleek for sure. they also probably managed to get a hold of videos that were a few years old – yes, i mean fred and annoying orange and charlie the unicorn. and oh my god epic rap battles of history? sign them up.
this also means that f listened to popular music at the time – i mentioned comedians and parody artists before, but hear me out. f listens to “sorry for party rocking” by lmfao and the album just changes their life. i also am so adamant on f loving the stoner/skater hip hop of the time. these artists absolutely embody f’s personality and entire vibe and you can’t convince me that they didn’t listen to them: mac miller, gym class heroes, wiz khalifa, far east movement, etc. mac miller’s debut album k.i.d.s is literally made for f.
anyway, the idea of f becoming more and more comfortable with the realm they didn’t want to be a part of because of the internet makes me feel so warm !!!! feel free to add onto this post if you think of other stuff too!
I got my second COVID vaccine yesterday and trying to sleep last night was rough. I felt all sickly🙃💀🤕. So it got me thinking how would UB take care of the detective if they got sick and I had to share my headcanons lol. The headcanons got a little longer than I expected so a "Read More" is appropriate haha. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts/personal headcanons!
🤡Ava/Adam: Pre-relationship/early in their route I feel like A would tell the detective to get rest so that "they do not affect the team's efficiency." And once the detective actually goes to bed, they would like appear at their door shortly after with water, medicine, and some snack (probably would have to ask N what they should give because human food?? Why would A care about that??) and present it to the detective. Now if the detective thanked A they would simply go "No need as you are part of the team and I am merely ensuring you recover quickly." It's not like I have 900 years of repressed feelings hitting me all at once because you smiled at me. 🤡🙃And then they would rush out of there. Now further into the relationship I see the bringing of goods still applicable but they would likely stay with the detective to watch over them. And *gasp* maybe they would hold the detective's hand to comfort them while they slept. 🤝
📚Nat/Nate: Absolute best person to have watching over you if you were sick. I feel like most of this applies for both pre-relationship and while in the relationship. N would have medicine, water, snacks, cold washcloth, and anything else the detective's heart desires because they want the detective to get better! Also, since we saw their overprotectiveness come out in the book 3 final demo, I feel like they might get a bit too mother hen-like or go a bit overboard with the supplies. They would just fret over the detective and any request (unless the detective wanted something unhealthy lol) would be no problem. Off they go to fetch it. If the detective has trouble sleeping because of the illness, I can imagine N grabbing a book (maybe one of their favorites?) and offering to read to the detective to see if that helps them fall asleep. They would have such a soothing voice.
☀Farah/Felix: F tries their absolute best at taking care of the detective. Similar to N, I think most of what I say would go for both pre-relationship and while in the relationship. I don't know how much they would know about certain illnesses as they're from the Echo World (and I don't think supernaturals get sick? I could be wrong lol.) So they would ask N likely for suggestions and even ask A and M if they had any suggestions on how to help the detective feel better. I feel like they would focus very hard to make sure the detective has everything they need. Oh, their glass of water isn't full? Gotta fill that. Cold compress losing its chill? Gonna get you a new one, babe. They would run around the warehouse so much just because they want the detective to be as comfortable as possible and when they run out of ideas they would kind of be antsy while sitting on the bed or in a chair next to the bed. It would almost exhaust the detective more lol. Eventually, if the detective comfortable (a.k.a not too hot), I could imagine F snuggling up the detective to try and soothe them to sleep. If the detective wasn't feeling too bad, F would offer them all the kisses in hopes that they get better soon. No amount of smooches is too much! 😘😘😘
🚬Morgan/Mason: First off, soft M-supremacy! M is my favorite so I thought about this alot. So pre-relationship/early in the books, M would have a hands off approach. They would likely watch another UB member (likely N) bring the detective stuff and for some reason, that they can't explain no matter how hard they try, they would stop by the detective's room to listen and see how they were doing. If the detective was awake, I could see them refilling water or grabbing something the detective needed if they were asked because M is loyal and wants their team to thrive. If the detective was struggling because they wanted to sleep but wasn't tired enough, I could definitely see M making an innuendo of "I know something fun that would get you tired enough" 😏👀 but likely wouldn't end up doing anything because sickness is rough and they want the detective to enjoy themselves wholeheartedly should they decide to bone (*insert the B99 gif of "BONE" here.) Now once they realize their feelings for the detective or even right as their on the brink of figuring it out, M would be soft ❤. They would wordlessly take things to the detective and get whatever they needed with only a few flirtatious lines here or there. The rest of UB would watch M go around taking care of the detective like "oh, yeah, you totally don't have feelings for the detective. Sure." Now if the detective was tired and asked M to stay (M would already just chill out in the room) I could see M laying in the bed (maybe cuddling if the detective wasn't feeling that awful hot feeling you get when you're sick) and just be comforting with their presence. I could see them running a hand along the detective's arm or back in a soothing way. Finally, I'm not sure if pheromones can make someone sleepy but if they do and the detective was struggling to sleep this would be the only time M wished their pheromones worked so that they could help the detective.
😭LT: The only thought I have to the LT is that both the A and N stuff above would be similar, but if N "caught" A getting stuff for the detective I could definitely see A pushing it off on N like "Obviously, you're the better person to take it to the detective." Also could imagine the angst if the detective like said "Thanks, A/N" all tired but they would say the name of the vampire that wasn't in the room?😢 I haven't played the LT so any angsty headcanons an LT player has is more than welcome lol.
