A/n: based off a dream I had! My brain kinda did a mashup of Beta and Opie(literally in my dream it was Ryan Hurst in the Beta mask in the TWD world being Beta but dressed as Opie with his kutte and beanie) probably bc i fell asleep watching TWD with the whispers and was writing my Opie story! can't remember every detail but I remember enough and ill tweek what i cant remember and of course add to it! But this is gonna be all Beta! I also gave Beta a real name:) thank you to the bestie @anniearmitage for helping me write this one!
You knew it was wrong! Your brother would kill you if he ever found out! Alpha would kill her right hand man! But neither of you cared, you wanted Beta and Beta wanted you! No matter the cost.
When you first met Beta it definitely wasn't love at first site you were terrified of the man I mean who wouldn't be? A 6'6 man who weighs well over 250 lbs and wears walker skin on his face yeah he scared you. Plus he was the enemy, the bad guy! Well he was til he saved your life from a herd of walkers.
After getting you to safety in a small cabin that only he knew of the two of you stuck up a friendship. He didn't talk much at first mainly one and two answers but you eventually got him to open up and that's when the feelings came for both of you. Beta wasn't one for feelings, him and his people lived by that rule but Beta broke that rule for you. He let himself feel things for you and above off he trusted you.
He trusted you enough to reveal is true face to you and you will never forget the first time he did it was also the day where you said i love you for the first time...
"Beta if this is gonna work I need to see your face one day" you tell him
"I haven't shown my real face to anyone but Alpha since the world fell and the ones that have seen my true self ive killed"
"I wont force you to do something you aren't comfortable with I never would I love you to much for that" those 3 words came out of your mouth before you even thought about it and you froze
"You love me" Beta asked in his deep low voice and you just nod not trusting your voice.
Bets walks over and grabs your face and kisses you "I love you too" he says
You smile up at him and you see a small genuine smile "i mean it Beta i wont push you to show me but I hope one day you trust me enough to let me see your beautiful face"
"How do you know it will look beautiful I'm nothing special under here" he says
"Because I love you so no matter what you look like I'm gonna think you're beautiful plus someone with eyes that pretty cant be bad looking" you tell him
He thinks about your words for a minute before taking a deep breath and reaches behind him undoing his mask. And when he pulls it off you smile.
You knew he would be gorgeous! You run your hand down his face pulling him into a kiss "like I said someone with eyes that pretty has to be gorgeous"
That was also the day you and Beta first slept together and it was the best sex of your life!
That night after you spent hours making love Beta opened up even more...
"Can I ask something" you say rubbing your circles on his chest
"You can ask me anything" he says
"Why don't you show others your face? I mean it's so handsome and we have all seen Alphas real face and a few others"
"Before the fall everyone stared everywhere I went everyone knew who I was and it got old so when the dead rose and I met Alpha we came up with the idea of wearing the skin of the dead to blend in that's how it started survival but when I have it on no body sees me for who I was before."
"I recognized you when you took the mask off" you told him shyly not knowing how he would take it "half moon"
"You did?" he asked taken aback
"Yeah Daryl and Merel had your albums I listened to them all the time"
"You listened to my music"
"I was more into the 90s and modern country but yeah you were in the playlist not as much as Jason Aldean or Luke Bryan but you were in the mix" you tesed "even saw you live once"
"When" he asked in his deep voice
"Country meets Rock fest outside Atlanta a few months before the fall, me and my friends had weekend passes and were front row when you preformed you were amazing"
"You were there that night?" he asked
"Yeah I was there and I was drunk off my ass from doing Jägerbombs and drinking beer all day"
"I wish I could have see you that night I don't remember much of it"
"I'm an annoying drunk trust me be glad you didn't have to see me that night or the next few days I was so hungover"
"I'm sure you're not that bad" he says making you laugh
"So your stage name was Half Moon, you go by Beta now but what's your real name"
Beta is silent for a minute. He hasn't even told Alpha his real name, the public didn't even know his real name.
"Ryan Winston" he said in low voice(see what i did there😂)
"I like it,it fits you" you smile "So can I call you Ryan" you ask half teasing and smirking.
"I'll think about it" he says shaking his head.

You never kept anything from Daryl he wasn't only your big brother but your friend. He pretty much raised you. He protected you from Merels lashing and comments to you and from your father's abuse so many times taking the beatings himself. It had always been you and Daryl against the world even before so keeping something this big from him was hard for you.
It's been 7 months since you and Beta became serious! You had secret meet ups at the same cabin he first took you to too, It's became not just Betas cabin but yours as well. You even made it a bit more homey!
You haven't seen Beta in almost a month not since things with your people and the Whispers started up again but you were seeing him today. You paced back and forth waiting for your tall gaint of a boyfriend to walk in and when the door opens and he is standing there you take of running to him.
You jump in his arms taking him by surprise almost knocking him over. You wrap your legs around his waist and smashing your lips to his not even caring about the mask and you feel him smirk.
"You miss me that much? You never kiss me like that with the mask on" he says placing you down
"I also dont fuck you when the mask on but if you don't hurry and take me to bed I will it will just have to be from behind I missed my man that much" you say pulling your shirt over your head
"Oh no it's been to long I need to see your face while you fall apart screaming my name so I'll take the mask off" he says reaching behind pulling the mask off
Beta knows you don't like him wearing the mask during sex, you tried it once but he could tell by the way you wouldnt look him in the eyes for to long it freaked you out. So ever since then he never wears it for more then a peck on the lips.
"God I missed you" you tell him rubbing his face
"I missed you too"
"Then show me" you whisper tugging his beard making him growl and picking you back up with ease carrying you to the bedroom.
And that's just what he did over and over for hours making up for lost time. You never had so many orgasms in one night.
As you lay there in the after glow wrapped in his arms your mind starts to wonders and Beta can tell. "Whats on your mind beautiful" he ask stroking your hair.
"I've always wondered something" you said still laying on his chest "Why did you save me that day with the walkers? I was nobody to you just another member of Alexandria you would have had one less of us to worry about"
"At first I wasn't for one you looked like you had it covered and two because you were the enemy even tho you were holding your own there was just something in your eyes the more guardians came toward you. fear? "You scared the shit out of me when came out of nowhere and threw me over your shoulder slashing your way through like it was nothing" you laugh making him smirk
"Ever wonder if we can ever truly be together and not have to sneak around this month has been hell not seeing you" you ask raising up and setting your chin on his bare chest.
"The only way that can happen is we both left everyone behind"
"You've thought about it" you asked in surprise
"Of course I have" he tells you pushing some hair out of your face.
"I just want to be with you without hiding it, be able to see you everyday. And I have thought about leaving and running away with you starting over where no one knows us"
"I have too but I could never ask you to leave your brother behind I love you to much to make you choose" he says making you smile and your heart swell
"The only reason I never brought it up was because i know you'd never leave Alpha and as much as I don't like her I admire your loyalty to her"
"I feel the same way when it comes to your brother" he says
"I wonder if you and Daryl could ever get along be in the same place without one of you going down an elevator shaft" you laugh making him pinch your sides
"One that actually hurt and two ill get along with your brother when you get along with Alpha"
"I wish I could tell Daryl about you this is the first time I've ever hid anything from him. But I know how that conversation would go and he'd probably lock me up in Negans old cell"
"I'd break you out baby" he says smirking
"And how would your gaint ass make it through the streets Alexandria without being noticed? I dont know if you know this but youre kind of big" you laugh
"Id find a way" he smiles "But I thought you like my size"
"Oh I do it's sexy I love that your big and not just your height" you wink making him roll his eyes
"Y/n can I ask you something" he says after a few minutes of silence

You can have anyone and I've seen how some of those men in Alexandria look at you, like that Rick guy or the one that never shuts up or the guy with the metal arm and you wouldnt have to hide them you could openly be with them so why me"
"I love you because I get to see Ryan not just Beta and hes super fucking great. Sweet loveing protective everything ive ever wanted and everything i thought id never have in this world. When I'm with you I feel like nothing bad can ever happen to me. And I'm far from perfect trust me! I've killed people too I've done bad things to survive and so has everyone in Alexandria. "When we lived in the prison and a few times over the years living in Alexandria me and Rick had a friend's with benefits thing. Your turn have you ever been with Alpha"

You don't know why but hearing that makes you a little jealous something you aren't use to feeling.
"Have you ever had feelings for her" you ask
"No you are the first woman I have had feelings for in over 15 years. Did you and Rick have feelings for one another"
"Nothing beyond friendship and loneliness sweetheart, it started after he lost Lori and just needed companionship and after that it was just sex"
You laid there in silence enjoying your time together, once you leave tomorrow it's gonna be another few weeks before you see each other again. With the way things are between your groups you've been having to be extra careful so it might be even longer before you can sleep away.
"I'm gonna miss you when I leave tomorrow I hate leaving you" you tell him
"I'm gonna miss you too y/n but can I tell you something"

"Just last week I saw you on watch with your brother Rick and the kid with the eye patch you were all laughing and talking. I thought you looked so beautiful in that goodie that was to big for you, your hair down and the wind was blowing so you kept having to get it out face and i laughed a little knowing how much you hate that." he tells you sounding embarrassed but you think it's cute
"How many time have you watched me" you ask in awe
"About 2 or 3"
"Your 10 foot tall how have I never seen you" you ask
"I walk with the dead darling so I know how to blend in and go unnoticed" he smirks "sorry if freaks you out"
"It doesn't baby, it worries me what someone will do if they see I don't want you hurt or worst! but now knowing you could be watching I can't be looking so homeless wearing my brothers hoodie that's way to big for me" you joke "why do you do it? You know take the chance?"
"I have to know you're ok that you're safe and if any of the dead get to close I can lead them away. And don't worry about me I can handle myself"
"I'll always worry about you but how bout this there is a big oak tree to the left about 200 yards from the south wall if you ever wanna let me know you were there leave a note and sign it R and I'll sign mine J! Just no mention of Alpha or anything to do with the whispers just in case someone finds them before me Alexandria would go into lockdown and Daryl would never let me out if that happens and dont worry ill take the notes back with me mine included so no Alpha doesn't find them"
"R and J" he asked confused

"Yes i did it has always been one of my favorite books, plays and movies loved me some Leo! But instead of Verona it's Virginia and I don't plan on us dying but samething! So will you do it" you smile a big toothy grin
Beta looks at your smile and rolls his eyes "fine I'll do it woman but that's for another day we still have the rest of tonight so let's see if I can get that orgasm count up even more" he says rolling his big body on top of you making you giggle!

It's been a 2 weeks since your last meet up with Beta and you miss him like crazy but you have been leaving each other little notes you have even been able to sneak him food...

Wrapped inside a leaf was an arrowhead on a string...you were in awe of it and you put it on right away and swore you would never take it off!
A few days later you woke up feeling sick to your stomach. The second your feet hit the floor you took off running to the bathroom passing your very confused brother and Dog along the way and then empty everything that was in your stomach in the toilet. A few minutes later you hear Daryl at the door
"Ya good in there" Daryl ask
"Yeah I'm good be out in a few gotta brush my teeth" you say back
You stand up and rinse your face then open the cabinet to get your toothbrush and toothpaste when you reach for them something catches your eyes...your box of tampons and your face goes white.
"No no no this can't be happening" you say grabbing the box doing mental math "Oh fuck"
You grab the mouth wash and take a big swig not having time to brush your teeth. You run out of the bathroom once again passing a very confused Daryl on your way out the door not even getting dressed or grabbing shoes.
"Ay where ya goin, ya forgot yer damn shoes" he yells Dog barking behind him
You run down the streets of Alexandria barefoot in nothing but your night shorts and tank top making people stare. You run and don't stop til you reach the infirmity and bust through the doors.
Siddiq looks at you like you have lost your mind which you think you have. You stand in front of him out of breath with your hands on your kneess.
"I ne-ne-need a pr-preg-pregancy test" you say trying to catch your breath "and you have to keep your month shut and not ask any questions"
"O-k" he said confused walking you to the back...
PREGNANT
"Shit" you say staring at the stick in your hand "what am I gonna go"
You walk back into the house you share with your brother hoping he was out but of course of all days for him to take a personal day it had to be today
"Aye what the hell had ya runnin out the house like it was on fire" he ask
"Oh ummm I forgot to ummm tell Rosita something yesterday girl stuff you know" you lie and laugh nervously
"Uh huh" he says suspiciously eyeing you "what wus with the pukin"
"I guess that soup from last night hit me wrong"
"Yeah ok, anyways I gotta go meet Rick talk bout this whispers shit got a radio call from Hilltop think they saw em lurken in the woods. Wanna come"
"Uhh nah I'm good gonna go lay back down then gonna go outside the walls for a bit"
Daryl eyes you with suspicious eyes. He knows your hiding something he can tell he raised you after all he can read you like a book.
"OK be careful" he says leaning in to hug you when he notices your necklace "where'd this come from never seen ya wear this"
"Oh I found it one day when we were out thought it was pretty made it into a necklace"
"Yeah see ya later love ya"
"Love you too"
When Daryl closes the door you run to your room and write a note to Beta hoping he'll be around sometime soon.
"God I hope you see this in time! I know it's early but meet me at the cabin in 3 days ill be there at noon it's super important please be there baby. I love you P.S i love the necklace its around my neck -J"
Later that night Beta made it to yalls tree excited to see if you wrote anything and got the necklace. But when he reads your words his heart sinks. What could possibly be so important for the risk of a meet up so much sooner then planned? We're you sick? Hurt? We're you gonna break up with him? He wouldn't know til he saw so he tries his best not to worry even tho it doesn't work.
"I'll be there baby I promise I hope everything is OK! I love you so much see you in 3 days -R"
The next few days went to slow. And the days leading up to your meeting had you were on edge and jumpy about everything. You avoided your brother as much as possible but Daryl wasn't stupid nor was he blind.
"Y/n been actin funny with ya" he ask Rick one day
"Funny how"
"Jus withdrawn, moody, jus actin weird is all, have ya noticed"
"Probably that time of the mouth" Rick says shrugging his shoulders.
"Maybe but she been avoidin me, sumthin else is up I know 'm sister man an somethin ain't right. Said she is goin t' see Maggie leavin tomorrow mornin and will be there for a few days but Maggie said she ain't heard that an' she is leavin fore oceanside tomorrow and I found these in 'er room" he says handing Rick the notes he found.
"You went snooping man, you know she's a grown ass woman right"
'Yeah yeah jus read em" Daryl grumbles
Rick reluctantly reads them. And smirks
"What ya smirkin bout" Daryl ask
"You don't want me to say trust me" Rick laughs
"Yeah I do what's so funny"
"Remember you asked for this...your sister is sweeter then apple-"
"I don' wanna hear that shit" Daryl says cutting him off making Rick laugh. "You asked I told you you didn't want to know"
"Anyways what d' ya think"
"Well" Rick says handing the notes back to his best friend "you shouldn't have went through y/n shit she'd break your face if she ever found out but sounds like your little sister got herself a secret boyfriend outside the walls someone we don't know"
"I wanna know who the hell 'm baby sister is sneakin off screwin outside the fuckin walls an' I wanna know why she ain't told me"
"And if she hasn't told you and been sneaking around how you gonna find that out" Rick asked
"Im'ma fuckin follow 'er ass when she walks out them damn gates tomorrow is what im'ma do fin' out who the hell it is"
"Want me to go with you for back up I can have Aaron and Gabriel hold down the fort" Rick offers
"Nah ill be good man be easier trailin 'er if it's jus me but ya mind keepin Dog"

The next day you leave before the sun is up. It's a half days walk to the cabin and it's much easier to get out of Alexandria at that time of day. You had packed a few days worth of essentials planning to stay a few days. As you walk out of the gates you had no idea your brother was not far beyond you or what was to come.
Daryl follows behind you keeping a good safe distance behind you. He was far enough not to be seen but close enough to help if you go in trouble.
He couldnt figure out why you were keeping something this big from him, you didn't keep anything from him ever. Even when you started messing around with Rick you were honest about it. So what was different now? Was it someone from Hilltop? Oceanside? He follows you a few more hours to an old abandoned cabin. He hides behind a big pine tree just a few hundred feet away from the cabin and watches you walk in. Now all he had to do was wait.
You get to the cabin before Beta which is nothing new, you normally get there first. You sit on the raggedy couch and wait in silence well other then the million thoughts in your head that seemed to extra loud...You and Beta were as carefull as you could be. Sure you didn't always have condoms at your disposal in the apocalypse or access to birth control like before but he did always pulled out. How was he gonna take this? How are you gonna tell him? Was he gonna leave you? You couldn't blame him could you?
You both lived such different life's in different places! How was your baby gonna be able to have both parents? Were you just gonna have to raise a baby on your own without him or her never seeing or knowing their father? Then there was Daryl...
How were you gonna tell your big brother! Daryl was super protective and was gonna want answers and if you knew your brother as well you think you did he was gonna rip every guy in Alexandria a new asshole til he found out. Only problem...babydadddy wasn't in Alexandria he was walking among the dead. Would you ever be able to tell him the truth?
Between your thoughts, the pregnancy fatigue and walking the last few hours you were exhausted. So you laid down and fell into dreamless sleep.
An hour later you are pulled from your sleep by a gentle kiss to your lips. When you open your eyes you are met with a mask less Beta smiling down at you making you sleepily smile back at him.
"Hey sleepy head" he says rubbing your head and sitting next to you.
"Hey" you say sitting up falling into his side automatically him wrapping his arms round you.
"I missed you"
"I missed you too darling"
Beta let's himself bask in the glory of your presence. He has missed you so much and was so happy to have you in his arms then he brings himself back to the reason he's here.
"Are you ok babygirl? Are you hurt? Sick? Something happen" he ask
You look up to him with tears in your eyes here goes nothing you think "I'm not hurt or sick I'm ok but I have have to tell you something but I'm scared to" you say letting a few tears fall.
Beta wipes your tears and lifts your head so you're looking at him "You can tell me anything"
You close your eyes and take a deep breath before letting those 2 words fall from your mouth, the 2 words you are sure were gonna make you lose the man you love "I'm pregnant" you whisper
Beta was not expecting those words leave your lips. He let's go of your face and stands up. He starts pacing back and forth not saying a word just looking at you, while you watch him in silence.
"Please say something" you practically beg breaking the silence you and walking over to him.
"I don't know what to say. When did you find out"
"The day I left you the not asking you to meet me here" you tell him looking at the ground "Ryan I know this wasn't planned and I'm sorry, if you dont want anything to do with me and baby I'll understand and I won't hold it against you. I'll come up with a story. But you had the right to know so you can make a decision" you tell him pretty sure you knew what he was gonna decide so you are surprised when he pulls you into his arms and kissing your head.
"I'd never leave you and our child. I love you and I'll love this baby I'm just shocked but I'll figure it all out I promise" he says pulling your face closer to his kissing your lips. The kiss turning very heated very quickly.
Meanwhile outside Daryl is in shock... there was no way in hell his baby sister was sneaking around with a whisper and not just any whisper Beta. This was not the guy tou were writing notes to back and forth and bringing food. This had to be a joke right? This was just a detour something else had to be going on. After about 10 minutes when neither you or Beta came out Daryl decided it was time to make his presence known and find out what the hell was going on. Daryl kicks the door down cross bow ready to shoot and what he sees leaves no more room for wondering... there stands his baby sisters in the arms of Beta making out
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS" he yells making you and Beta pull apart and looking to your brother. Daryl is so enraged he doesn't even notice Beta has his mask off.
Beta who had his mask in his coat pocket hurrys to hide his face and put his mask on luckily he was able to get it on in time.
"Daryl what the fuck are you doing here" you ask
"What am I doin here? What the fuck are ya doing with him? Are ya insane y/n?"
"No Daryl I'm not! Did you follow me?"
"I sure as shit did! Ya sleepin with em" huh? This who ya been sneakin off t' see an bringin food 'to? He the one who gave ya that" he asked pointing to your necklace.
"Its none of your busn- wait how do you know about the food and the meet ups?" You ask confused
"I found these in ya room" he says throwing your letters
"You went through my stuff Daryl! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME"
"NO 'M NOT! YA BEEN ACTIN FUNNY THE LAST FEW DAYS SO I DECIDED Y' FIND OUT WHY AN NOW I KNOW! 'M SISTER BEING A SKIN WEARIN FREAKS WHORE"
Up to this point Beta has just stood there letting you handle your brother but that comment made him snap!
"DO.NOT.TALK.TO.HER.THAT.WAY" Beta says in a deep growl and raised voice stepping forward. You try to grab his arm but you aren't fast enough.
"Yeah what are ya gonna do huh" Daryl says stepping toward Beta making.
Beta narrows his eyes at your brother and let's out the loudest deepest growl you've ever heard. You try to step in between then but it's to late Beta punches Daryl in the jaw sending your brother to the floor.
Before you can even process what just happened Daryl is back to his feet tackling him to the ground. Both men now throwing punch after punch.
"STOP, STOP BOTH OF YOU" you scream. But your yelling falls on deaf ears.
They continue to fight tearing the cabin apart. Throwing each other into walls throwing punch after punch while you stand there screaming and begging for them to stop.
In all the chaos you dont see Alpha slip in her knife in her hand. She to had noticed something off about her right hand the last few day and decided to follow him. You don't know she's there til you feel a sharp pain in your arm making you scream in pain.
"What do we have here huh? You and your brother setting a trap for my Beta" she says pushing you to the ground.
Out of instinct you cradle your belly when you hit the floor not caring she had just stabbed you.
The sound of your body hitting the ground Beta and Daryl both turn your way just as Alpha brings her knife up and jamming it in your calf making you scream again then punches you in the jaw.
"NO" Beta yells and in 3 large quick steps hes over Alpha pulling her off you tossing her to the the side then crouches beside you.
"Babygirl are you ok" he says pulling a rag from his back pocket placing it on your leg.
"I'm ok baby" you say with a painful groan. "Theres some medical supplies in my bag I'll patch myself up will you get them" you ask
Instead of getting your bag he picks you up bridal style and takes you to the couch. He gets your bag and starts looking over your wounds. All the while Daryl and Alpha look on.
"The wound on your arm isn't that deep but the on your leg is deep and gonna need stitches" he tells you
"I have super glue in the small pocket on the front thats gonna have to do for now. And I guess if you just wrap my arm that'll be good"
"She didn't hit your stomach did she" he growled looking at Alpha
"No I'm sure the baby's fine" you say before even thinking
"THE BABY? WHAT BABY?" Daryl yells and when you dont say anything back or even look at him "Y/N YA BETTER FUCKIN ANSWER ME ARE YA PREGNANT" you only nod to answer him "AND ITS HIS ARE YA FUCKIN KIDDIN ME"
"No I'm not kidding and yes it's Beta's" you tell him
"I can't believe this" Daryl says pinching the bridge of his nose "I don't even know what to say"
"Well start thinking what you wanna say and shut up while Beta fixes me up" you tell him
"Beta can you confirm this" Alpha says from a across the room
"Yes it's true she is carrying my child" he says still wrapping your arm making Alpha nod her head with a look on her face you cant quit read.
The whole time Beta is taking care on your wounds Daryl stares at you from the across the room, and you have never seen him so pissed.
"OK baby all done" Beta says and Daryl waste no time walking over to the couch.
"Now y/n Dixon ya wanna tell me how the fuck ya ended up with this skin wearing freak an how long the two of ya been sneakin off" Daryl speaks up
"You wanna watch your tone Daryl Dixon or you won't get no answers" you tell your brother
"Wat-watch 'm tone? M' baby sister has been lyin and sneakin around with the jolly green giant ugly twin brother an is now ya knocked up and ya tellin m' to watch my tone!"
"I knew if you found out you'd lose your shit and try to lock me behind the walls of Alexandria probably in Negans old cell"
"Ya damn right I would've for ya own good!now answer the fuckin question question"
"Been serious for 7 months but before that we were friends for 2 before anything happened"
Daryls floor almost hits the ground hearing that "9 FUCKIN MONTHS ARE YA SHITIN ME RIGHT NOW" he yells
"I LOVE HIM DARYL OK AND YOU ARENT GONNA CHANGE THAT ALPHA AINT GONNA CHANGE THAT! I LOVE BETA AND SOME HOW SOME WAY IM GONNA BE WITH HIM! YOU AINT GOTTA LIKE IT YOU DONT HAVE TO UNDERSTAND IT BUT I LOVE HIM AND THATS NOT CHANGING NOW" you yell getting to your feet wincing in pain making Beta shoot to his feet to help hold you up.
"Beta do you feel same way for his girl" Alpha ask from her spot across the room
"Yes Alpha I do I love her very much" Beta says
"Well then looks like you have a decision to make" Alpha says smirking before walking out the door without another word. Beta doesn't miss the look in her eyes tho.
"How can ya be with him y/n? Ya know what he's done? What his people have done? He has killed some of our friends. Not only that but he wears walker skin on his face is that what ya into now that only that but he has led walkers to our gates. How do ya know he aint jus using ya huh that ya aint jus a piece of ass to em"
"Watch it" Beta says
"You know what we've done Daryl? what our people have done? Beta has never killed any of our people directly Alpha and the others have but wanna know who has killed his people directly me and you! And yeah he had led walkers to the gates and the walls before but that was only a year ago! Have you not noticed the last new months walkers haven't been at the gates at all huh because he has been leading them away every time Alpha has sent any he has risked his life to make sure your little sister was safe and not that it's any of your fucking business but he doesn't wear his mask around me. I know things about him noone in this world living or dead know that's how I know I'm not just a piece of ass"
"He's tried to kill me" Daryl pointed out
"Yeah and you threw him down an elevator shaft yall are even" you tell him
Beta and Daryl have a stare down and for a minute you think they are gonna start swinging on each other again so you step in the middle of them before that could happen.
"Look yall ain't gotta like each other but I'm having this baby so you gotta find a way to get along. I love you both but I'm not gonna deal with the two of you at each others throats. I already have enough on my plate and if you cant get along ill raise this baby alone"
Both men are silent still staring at one another but it's Daryl that breaks the silence.
"Ya really love m' sister? Ya aint bullshitin 'er?"
"I don't love her I broke every rule of the pack to be with her and keep her safe"
"And the baby ya gotta be round to em or am i gotta have to help raise it"
"Yeah I'll do what ever it takes even leaving the pack and leaving my mask behind" Beta says making you look at him surprised
"I'm not asking you to do that we can figure it out Beta" you tell him
"You..." he says grabbing your chin to have you look at him "are more important our child will have me in their life. And to prove it to you I'm gonna do something" he says
You look at your boyfriend confused wondering what he meant but then you see him reach behind his head and you know what he's about to do.
"Beta" you say grabbing his hand "you don't have to show him your face I believe every word you said you don't have to prove them to me" you say
"But I do have to prove it to him and if showing my true self gets him to see how much you mean to me ill it I love you that much just give me a minute" he says then kisses your head before turning around.
"What he look like under there" Daryl whispers
"You'll see" you smirk "and just know I'm the only one in almost 10 years that has seen his face"
"What bout Alpha" Daryl ask
"Only once since they met at the beginning"
You and Daryl watch Beta finish removing his mask then he slowly turns around his full face on display...
"Holy fuckin shit! Ya gotta be shitin me" Daryl says in disbelief "ya boyfriend is Half Moon?"
"Yep now you know why he never showed his face. It wasn't because he liked it, it was to hide from everyone"
"This was definitely not on my apocalypse bingo card. Y/n yer havin a baby with a guy who's poster was on ya wall" he said making you look at him with wide eyes
"You had a poster on your wall of me" Beta asked amused
"It was a small one" you mumbled.
It was decided that Beta would stay in the cabin with you for a couple days at least til you could walk better and Daryl would leave first thing in the morning for Alexandria. He said he would talk to Rick alone about making some kind of deal where Beta would be able to visit you inside the walls. You knew that was gonna be a rough conversation.
Daryl took the couch that night while you and Beta took the bed. As you lay there in Betas arms he starts rubbing your stomach.
"I'm leaving the pack" he says quietly still rubbing your belly "I want to be with you and our child and the only way I can do that is by leaving the pack"
"You'd do that for us"
"I'd do anything for you"
"I was thinking about something you might like it"
"What were you thinking baby"
"I know you would never be happy or comfortable in Alexandria so there are a few cabins in the woods a few miles away from the walls. What do you say we fix one up for us, live there a place for the 3 of us?"
Beta smiles a real smile "let's do it" he says bringing you into a kiss.
"Theres one more thing" you say when you pull apart
"What is it"
"If I know Rick and the others no matter what they decide about you,they are gonna kill Alpha and they aren't gonna stop til she's dead. I know she's the closest thing to family you have I couldn't have you not know"
Beta let's out breath "no they are not...i am" he says leaving you in shock
"You're gonna kill Alpha" you ask sitting up
"I already talked to your brother about it"
"Why would you do that"
"Because when i leave the pack she will stop at nothing to get to you I saw it in her eyes today and Im not ever letting that happen so I'm gonna do before she has a chance"
"When are you doing this? Arent you worried about the others that are loyal to her" you asked
"When i get you home. Me and your brother have plan and dont worry about others in in the plan. I'm gonna make sure you and our child are safe"
"When did you and my brother start getting along"
"When we both realized you and that chuld are the most important people in the world to us"
Most people who know Beta, if anyone really knows Beta, would say that he isn't capable of love. He loves his Alpha, of course, but that's different. It's worship. He reveres her, as if she is the sun and the world would be nothing without her. It is not based on mutual affection, the love of equals. He would kneel for her, die for her, but he doesn't know the exact shade of the colour of her eyes; the way she looks when she sleeps; the goosebumps that awaken over her skin when she's afraid. She is untouchable, above him, and he bows beneath her. It isn't real love. It is something else entirely.
But Beta loves you. Really. Truly. It crept up on him, a steady thrumming in his chest like an overactive hummingbird had made its home in the cage of his ribs. He didn't recognise the feeling, and it made him feel shaky and weak in a way he despised. The fact that it only seemed to spring up when you were around was lost on him until the first time you'd touched him, bare skin to bare skin, and the skittish bird had taken flight so wildly, so abruptly, that he almost thought his heart might explode beneath the pressure of the beating wings. You'd tripped in the forest, toe catching on an exposed tree root, and he'd moved on instinct, catching you before you could hit the ground. Why he'd even done that he wasn't sure, but the warmth of your hand on his as you righted yourself, the gaze you focused on his face as you whispered your thanks had set something alight in him that he had no hope of tamping down, and the bird in his chest was dancing, hollering to escape the flames.
But Whisperers didn't show love. They didn't do feelings. It wasn't their way. They were like the dead, cold, emotionless, moving in herds, and anything less than that would be considered a failure. So, instead of reaching out to you, he finds himself watching you, taking note of the way your body shivers when the guardians draw too close, the tiny whimpers that escape you when they find a fleshy feast to sate their unending hunger. And he realises that you're scared, wonders why you even walk with them at all if it fills you with so much terror. He cannot ask you. He cannot let his weakness show. But, as his love for you grows and contorts until it seems to have wrapped itself around every vessel in his being, he goes out of his way to shield you from the worst of the horrors. In the midst of a horde, he is at your side, knuckles brushing against the soft cotton of your sleeve, reassuring you that he is there and that he won't let anything hurt you. When the dead tear into the flesh of another, he shields the sight from your eyes with the broad bulk of himself, so that you couldn't possibly see even if you tried.
If Alpha notices the special attention that he pays to you, she doesn't comment on it. Perhaps it is a game to her, something that she wants to watch play out and unfold. Or perhaps she considers it of little circumstance, unworthy of her recognition. Whatever it is, Beta is grateful. And the smile that curves your lips when he presents you with a shiny red apple, growling, "You dropped this", when, of course, you hadn't at all, is enough to keep him going for another day. It's so much harder to walk with the dead beside the person who makes him feel so incredibly alive. One day, he's sure, it will be his downfall. He's not so sure he cares.
