*comic spoilers* I've been wondering if the show might swap the Wolves for the Whisperers - mainly because they would work better on TV? The Whisperers would be expensive to film, and wouldn't make a lot of sense without subtitles, plus they're just icky in a way that would be hard to watch week after week.Wolves on the other hand only need a 'W' and bad teeth and they're good to go!..So for that reason your theory that they'll be the next big threat makes a lot of sense.

I think it’s possible. After all, they did switch out the Hunters for the Termites. And they were very similar, so you could argue it was the same thing, just with a different name and some tweaking. 

I don’t know a lot of details about the Whisperers bc I don’t read the comics. But I know the broader facts. And if, as you say, they would be too icky for what AMC to show and too hard to film, I think we can count on them being tweaked for TV at the very least. 

It’s also possible the wolves are part of a larger organization that is the Whisperers. Like a branch-off of them or something. Anything’s possible. They could do SO many things with these story lines, and you know Gimple has had it planned out for years. 

One other thing I think is worth mentioning is a fan theory that has to do with Fear the Walking Dead. It’s been confirmed that at some point, the story line in Fear will catch up to TF in regular TWD. (All they’d have to do is a time jump between seasons or some such. 

So a lot of fans think that the group in Fear will eventually become the Whisperers and Madison will be Alpha. Again, just a theory. No way to know if that’s where tptb are going with it. I do think it holds some weight though. It seems like they’ve been emphasizing too much that a cross over PROBABLY wouldn’t be possible. Like they really don’t want us to suspect that.

And it’s always bugged me that they like to say that if we’d followed Negan from the beginning of the apocalypse, he’d be the good guy and Rick would be the bad guy. SO not true. Rick may have made some questionable decisions and had bouts with his own sanity, but he’s not a murderer or an enslaver. 

But why do they keep talking about following someone else from the beginning and, by doing so, rooting for them because we’ve seen their struggles from the beginning? Maybe because that’s what they’re gonna do on Fear?

If you can’t tell, I”m kind of a fan of this theory and hope they do it. I”m not a huge fan of Madison and I think if they were trying to make her an anti-hero, it would make her infinitely more interesting. Not more likable, but more interesting. 

But I think we’re a long way from that. Just kind of an off-the-wall theory that may not pan out at all. If it does pan out, then we’ll definitely see some iteration of the Whisperers at some point. Of course, it would also be terribly fascinating if the people on Fear became the wolves. 🤔🤔🤔

holy shit. the wolves actually set traps for survivors? in 6x01, they use loud music to lure the walkers into the containers at the food banks. so they want survivors to get to the food bank and hope they find food only to unleash dozens of walkers, huh? they're looking to kill survivors? what the heeeelll
