I fold my body over the arm of your couch
to make an offering of myself
rock the anger inside of you to sleep
The kind that turns your eyes dark
reflecting my own fear back to me
I don’t pretend to know why you do the monstrous things you do to me
But I play your game all the same
Lose battles to win the war
Protect what is precious
But accept that I cannot protect all of me
I like the shape of my nose
so I ask you to spare it and beat into my personhood instead
and I beg you that when you push inside me
You do it gently
Clean up after yourself
scoop out the scars
you’ve left behind
but you are anything but gentle as you
take from me
emptying my body into a hollow void
my spirit floating to your ceiling
staring down
watching you further penalize me when I am not slick on command
I can’t help that my body rejects you
muscles gripping tight trying to shut you out
lock the door
I float down again
stare into your dilatated pupils searching for love
But I find contempt instead
In whispers
I offer comfort emptier than the body I speak to
It will be over soon

He was lucky he'd found her. With an injury like his, he'd been easy pickings for any wandering hordes, not to mention the risk of infection. Bone breaking through the skin was a recipe for disaster and a death sentence given the current state of the world.
Thanks to her, he'd survive. So long as he didn't do anything stupid. She wouldn't hold her breath on that one. He was awful cocky for a man with a bum ankle.
"Surviving," was her reply, brows pulling together as she frowned. "Safer on my own," because she'd tried being in a group before. It hadn't ended well. She'd take her chances on her own.
"Your place?" her expression said she didn't like that idea. She didn't say anything else as she moved to set a pair of crutches beside him. "You can take the boot off in 8 weeks. In the meantime do your best to keep your weight off it."
Two days. Two miserable days since she’d been snatched up by a well placed net. She’d stumbled across a herd of walkers and had nearly gotten herself surrounded, but the large net she now found herself trapped in had saved her skin. Though, Melody wasn’t likely to ever admit such a thing.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t the only thing the trap caught as a pair of walkers were snatched up with her. The now dead walkers were the reason she had yet to escape her current predicament; her hunting knife was stuck in the skull of one. With her knife unwilling to come free and with no other means to cut her way to freedom, Melody was stuck high above the ground, waiting for the trap’s owner to appear.
It was some time during that second day that she began to really try to find another way to escape, but with two rotting corpses pressed against her, it was difficult to make any sort of progress. In fact, Melody succeeded in getting her ankle tangled up, limiting her movement further. She was really starting to panic when distant whistling caught her attention. At first, Melody thought it was her mind playing tricks on her, but as the minutes ticked by the whistling grew closer.
“Hey! Help!” she called, desperate to be free as exhaustion, hunger, and dehydration made her less than cautious.

Jeremy glanced around outside. Majority of the gates had been knocked down and the watch towers weren’t looking too good either, but he was glad to be back. He was so sick of Woodberry and glad to back with his friends, the people he’d considered family since all of this had went down. It wasn’t his turn to watch quite yet, but he didn’t feel up to sitting around. The new members of the group were still settling in which left most and their attention on them, trying to get to know everyone or make sure they were settled. He was a little surprised that Rick had allowed them to join, but after all that had happened, the people from Woodberry didn’t seem to have any where else to go and they only wanted the same them. Peace, to savage life as they knew it. Jeremy wandered away from the group, his crossbow in hand just in case, exiting the prison as he strolled outside. He knew Judith was the one left on watch for this side and she out of everyone was the only one he really hadn’t spoken to much since he returned. His hues spotted her on the bridge above, the closest and best view when the towers weren’t an option. “ It’s good to see you back in your own body. ” A smile curved onto his lips as he stepped closer to her, resting against the fence before looking out to the yard and the few walkers lurking around the gate. “ Looks like things are finally getting back to normal— whatever that is. ” He chuckled as his hues returned to hers.
