What’s up everyone? It’s ya boy Ian back at it with another journal! This time I wanna talk about where I’m from. I was born in Louisiana where I spent the first 6 years of my life. Louisiana and New Orleans in particular has its own culture different from the rest of the country. With its roots deep in French and Spanish history. The atmosphere of New Orleans is so bright and musical; take a walk down the French Quarter and you’ll hear and see dozens of street performers and musicians belting music into the air. The smells of the incredible food fills one’s nose. The sweet smells of beignets from Cafe du Monde flood the streets and they smell amaaaazing. Watching the powder sugar fall over the fluffy pastries like a light snow on Christmas morning is one of the best sights in the whole word. Walking down the streets passing all of the unique and curious shops and booth is so fun. Looking at all of the different trinkets and souvenirs can provide hours of entertainment. Another characteristic of Louisiana is the Cajun history. When Louisiana is mentioned people think of swamp dwelling rednecks who ride alligators and live on boats, but that is only some of the people who live in Louisiana. People also think of voodoo when they think of Louisiana and that has been something that has always interested me. Voodoo is such a unique and taboo subject but every time I see a voodoo shop I can’t help but walk in and look at all of the dolls and magic items they have for sale.
