Day Ten of @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofChristmas is "Sport." Ballet may not be a sport, but dancers (of all kinds) are definitely athletes! Here's my #Degascosplay from this year's @gish (this is the GISH Item I'm proudest of from this year & possibly my favourite from all my years participating so far)! 💖🕊🎀::insert pointe shoe emoji here because I don't have a new enough iOS:: * * Item 207 from this summer's #GISH was ‪(paraphrased) "We miss museums. Cosplay as your favorite character in your favorite work of art (painting or sculpture) doing something mundane or majestic." My actual favourite "character from a painting" would be Waterhouse's Lady of Shalott or Miranda, but I didn't choose either of them because I already used my Lady of Shalott dress for the "cosplay as a unicorn" item in one of the earlier mini-GISH Hunts this year & I don't have a blue dress to be Miranda (also, both would require reddish wigs). * * Therefore, I present to you not a cosplay of a specific painting, but an approximation of a Degas ballerina at a tea party. (My thought process was something like "I have old ballet costumes & black ribbon!!" Also, I seem to always make a GISH item into a tea party.) Swipe on IG for an actual edit! I threw on the Canvas & GIMPressionist filters in the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). 💖🕊🎀‬ (I got to share this item in the GISH Closing Ceremonies & @mishacollins said really nice things about it?! It’s been months & I still can’t believe that happened?) * * {Costume is from junior or senior year ballet class (I'm pretty sure we did a piece from "La Sylphide"?); floof underneath provided by both my @pinupgirlclothing petticoat & crinoline from @sockdreams (I think by @legavenue?); pointe shoes by @blochdanceusa (Yes, I'm cheating a bit by leaning against the table. It took a while before we got a snap I liked & I haven't had a pointe class in three or four years. An interlude, if you will, between posting for #TwelveDaysofCosmas to show you my family’s Christmas tree! Attempting @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofCosmas (which ran for the first twelve days of December) again this year! Once again, I’m starting much later, haha. 💖🎄 I was successful at completing the entire set of prompts last year & I am going to try to do this thing again! Like last year, I didn't attend any conventions (except for online ones) & I only did a few cosplay tests/closet cosplays—but I am going to try to complete the posts with pictures I haven't posted before (or at least not too many times)! As is often the case with this sort of thing, I found out about @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofCosmas (which ran for the first twelve days of December) a few days ago. (Also, I'm usually terrible at this type of challenge because I don't really post regularly, so I'll do the first few days & then forget about it.) * * I am going to try to do this thing, though! I didn't see the original post (or rules if there are any), so I hope it's okay that I'm using picture that were *not* taken this year--none of my conventions happened this year (my first one is usually in May/June) so the only cosplay pictures I have from this year are a few from @Gish items, some cosplay test/closet cosplay pictures, & a few from online stay-at-home conventions. I am going to try to complete the prints with pictures I haven't posted before, though!
