I just saw this photoset that had the titles of the members of the Fellowship. I read Legolas' title, 'Prince of Mirkwood', and my brain just instantly went, "I think you mean Prince of Twerkwood." Too much time in the Randy Thrandy part of the fandom.

Album Review Tuesday! Mirkwood!

Hello again loyal readers!  It's Tuesday, and you know what time it is!!  That's right, you've been waiting all day (maybe not)  to hear about a recommendation of what to listen to, and this week, I bring you Winchester, VIrginia's own MIRKWOOD!

Mirkwood is a local group made up of: Rusty Waddell - Guitar/Vocals Danny Prock - Vocals/Guitar Sam Cheshire - Bass Christian Corcoran - Drums

This band came around in 2012 as a new project after the split of All For Thee Above, a band which all the members of Mirkwood were a part of.  If you were familiar with the sound of A.F.T.A, you would know that they were a very heavy, Underoath/Devil Wears Prada like band, however, Mirkwood has a completely different sound.   This band has one current release which came out earlier this year entitled: The Mirkwood EP.  This six song album is pack with chord heavy guitar parts, driving bass lines and technical drums.   Over top of the band, the two distinct voices of Rusty and Danny make the band blend in a style they call " Valley Punk", which for them, brings to mind sounds of bands such as Balance & Composure, mixed with Oceana and Black Flag.   The album has a variety of song styles,  The song Reinventing Yourself has a slow driving emotional driven sound, unlike the fast, punk driven sound of the song House, and the Heavy, percussion and bass driven song to end the album MTN. Doom, which starts and ends with a breakdown that makes you want to flail your arms and beat your friends.   Over all the album is great and I look forward to see this band progress in the future.   Tell me what you think!
