I didn’t have any ideas for what Salami would be leaning back from. You’d think it’d be a slobbering beast, but I went with Twi!Link instead. He just learned what the Goron Mask does to the wearer. (he doesn’t know??🐍) I don’t think he liked it. So, does he want an explanation, an apology, or a refund? ...All of those?

Ahhh...I feel embarrassed to say this Salami...but before I knew much about you..I may or may not have thought you were a girl....mistakes were made hehe..

They've gotten too comfortable, he thought to himself, these generic henchmen.

Salami understood perfectly well that no matter what timeline the Happy Mask Shoppe sprung up in, it always attracted an extraordinary cast of characters. The Goddesses' Chosen Heroes, the ancient Sages, even the Princess of Hyrule: all of them had been welcomed at the shop. Upon his awakening, Salami returned to the business to greet those VIPS once more.

...But they did not return.

Now he had to deal with suspicious characters, such as the one before him!

The fact that Salami had not met with anyone from his family was most alarming to him. What happened? Was he trapped in a doomed era? Would he never see them again? He lamented his soul's poor timing. Hyrule was already lost, so what had brought about the reanimation of the mask salesman's long-dead protégé? The boss would not approve of his poor attitude towards their patrons, IF he was there. He cared less and less every passing day.

Indeed, it seems our happiness(?) salesman has little to smile about.

With Princess Zelda disappearing from the public eye after an attack on the castle, the citizens of the castle town felt uneasy. Evil had returned to Hyrule, that Salami could be sure of. The Hyruleans continued with their daily lives as best they could, unknowingly living as prisoners under a blanket of Twilight.

No one asked, obviously, but I'm doing this anyway.

1. A song that you think would be your character’s overall theme song

Lyrics? Nooo...

"You and me were never meant to be part of the future"

2. A song your character would choose to best describe them

Happy Mask Salesman's theme. (Why does it sound sad?)

3. A song that makes you think of your character at their happiest

I just think he'd be happy because of a new connection. Are spiders allowed at the insect ball?

4. A song that makes you think of your character at their lowest

Twi!Salami learns the truth about what happened to the Sages from his time. Stripped of their autonomy, becoming empty husks... Something like that. They're gone. Thrown away. The replacements have no personality, no distinguishing features besides the different symbols of the Sages. They simply follow the Goddesses' will. And they're not even good at it!

That's when Salami would become obsessed with returning to the past. The last thread of hope, finally broken. He'd wish he was never reborn or at least not tortured with the knowledge of his past life. What's worse, in my opinion, is that he doesn't think of Fado, and how she managed to survive whatever happened to the Sages. She's with him now, but he's trapped in his renewed grief.

He keeps up the joyful facade for a while, until one day he closes up shop and disappears... (In-game, renting masks would be impossible for a while.)

His real family is gone, but they left the business to him. He takes on the role of mask salesman again as a way of honoring them. You know, some folks are awakened as Sages, while others are awakened as Merchants! Is that really what they would've wanted for him?

Do you remember the names of his siblings? Mutton, Pinkel, Cervelas (Zer) and Venison. haha Venison was the other guy who tried to summon the rain by playing the Song of Storms. He played it every day on his accordion.

It has to be the Armogohma fight!

I love that half of my OC Salami playlist is a retelling of Twilight Princess with Salami inserted into the story. lol

Slowly corrupted during the course of the game, he eventually becomes the boss of the Temple of Time, Armogohma. He's lured to the temple, hoping he can return to a time when he was happy. (Or so he believes.) A happiness salesman who's not happy, imagine that.

...It's a really good playlist.

The flow of time is always cruel... Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it. A thing that doesn't change with time is a memory of younger days.

His corruption follows the pattern of bosses like Fyrus and Blizzeta, who were transformed by the power of some ancient, accursed artifacts. Salami often deals in strange artifacts! He really should know better than to mess with them.

These are some old sketches of a new shoppe for Twilight Princess. It would be located in the Central Square of Hyrule Castle Town, possibly next to Chudley's/Malo's store. I remember I wanted it to be wheelchair accessible... It'd have a wide ramp or a magical platform that moves up and down.

He's watering plants on the porch. I know this idea comes back later! I just gotta find it.

Aha! I found another sketch of him watering plants outside of the shop with a Zora standing behind him. I'll take my own scraps, thank you. Yum, yum.

But where is his hat?!

These themes fit him so well for his encounters with Link. (If the uploads get deleted, they're called "The Lost Boy" and "Malus Reappears (Part 2)" from Castlevania 64.)

The second one even has a creepy choir that's also in Twilight Princess.

Maaan, I can’t just do 1 OC or 1 fact!

🎭 Guguul, my shape-shifting Hylics OC, can transform into everyone from Wayne’s party provided they sacrifice a portion their flesh. I even had names for all the forms: Gu-nosa, Dedus’uul, and Gu-gorma. Gibby’s form is called The King’s Double.

👹 Kalahbos, another Hylics OC, uses ice gestures.

🕸️ Twi!Salami (my fav OC/evolution of Salami currently) can speak and write in the Old Hylian from his era. I just assume the two languages in OoT and TP are different, as they have different scripts. Right?!

Do you think Skulltulas are natural or are they evil monsters aligned with Ganon? Did the Great Deku Tree always have Skulltulas spinning webs in his body? What about the coughing Deku Babas or the Deku scrubs who were loyal to Queen(ie) Gohma? Was he really ok with this?

Anyway, one of my theories for Salami’s return was that Ganondorf’s power brought him back. Not really on purpose, he just got cycled in with the common enemies of the Zelda series since he’s a... Skulltula. Assigned evil by the cosmos... the curse is strong on this one!

Well, I haven’t decided yet. He won’t be doing Ganon’s bidding, probably.
