Day 2: Divided
Note: Here's to you JoJo! You're drawing ("Lost") inspired this little one-shot. For day 2, I interpreted divided as physically separated
I raced through the trees tracking the scent of Wild and Hyrule. My heart pounded in my ears. ‘Were they injured, kidnapped, ambushed?’ My thoughts spiraled downwards; all of those options pushing me to go faster. ‘How far had they been taken? Where had they gone?’ Dread creeping across my fur. I had been running for an hour now; my mind drifting to what the others might be doing.
An hour ago, when Warriors had first said something about them having not come back for about 20 minutes, and they hadn't told anybody anything, and nobody knew where they were; All Chaos broke out. I snapped my head to the left, when the scent took a sharp turn. I skid to a stop, nearly hitting a tree before racing off again in the new direction, panting heavily.
Finally, I came upon a cave, their scents heavy and heading inside. ‘They’re here!’ I crept inside, heading down the long winding tunnels. It seems the golden three have mercy on me because I quickly came upon the missing duo, ready to tear any enemies apart only to abruptly stop. They were sitting there on the floor, laughing, seemingly without a care in the land.
My fear eased a bit before burning into irritation; prickly and hot. I barked agitatedly. They both violently startled, scrambling upwards, and swords at the ready. Wild stopped short quickly realizing it was just me. He called in delight. “Tw- Wolfie! You found us.” He went on to explain himself, when I only glared at him. “We went exploring, but got a little lost.” He started rubbing the back of his neck looking awkward but I was not having it. I gave my best impression of Time’s unimpressed look. Hyrule and he both just looked sheepish while sheathing their swords. I huffed at them, still irritated but calming now that I knew that my brothers were safe and mostly unharmed. ‘Besides I’m sure Time and warriors are gonna rake them over the coals anyway; when we get back. I turned and started walking towards the exit; only glancing back to make sure they were following; before continuing on. Behind me Hyrule started talking to Wild.
“I’m glad your wolf friend found us, Now I just wonder how mad they are?” I kept walking, finally having all the adrenaline that built up, finally slow, and my heart now beating at a moderate pace.
“Oh, They aren’t mad, they’re furious.” Wild said in reply. ‘Dang right.’ I thought looking back. Hyrule had a questioning expression, and Wild only responded with, “Trust me, I can tell.”
