16. One person pouting, only to have it removed by a kiss from the other person.

This was the day Twilight had been waiting for. Six months ago the museum had announced it would be opening a new exhibit about Starswirl’s world-famous breakthroughs in astronomy and the self-proclaimed biggest collection of his personal tools and belongings. The thing Twilight had been looking forward to the most was getting to look at the in-depth display they had made of scanned pages from Starswirl’s elusive field journal, which had recently been discovered in the attic of one of his decedents. 

Eagerly clutching her pre-ordered ticket in one hand and clasping Sunset’s hand in the other, Twilight practically bounced to the entrance of the museum. They were the first ones there. Good thing I planned ahead so we wouldn’t have to wait in line, she thought, smiling to herself. However, when she caught sight of the double doors it occurred to her that something wasn’t right. The lights were off inside the building, and a quick test of the door handles told her the entrance was locked. It was then that she saw the printed sign taped to the inside of the glass paneling.

“Closed for inspection?!” she asked incredulously, “On opening day for their newest exhibit?!”

“You’d think they would make an announcement about that kind of thing,” Sunset said.

Twilight quickly pulled out her phone to check the museum’s social media update stream.

“They just posted one a few minutes ago,” Twilight said, “Apparently there were some safety concerns. WHY TODAY?!”

Sunset reached up to put her arm around Twilight’s shoulders.

“I’m sorry, Twi. I know you were really looking forward to seeing the Starswirl exhibit, but we can always come back and see it when they’re open again,” she said.

“But I spent all week writing up a list of the most interesting fun facts about Starswirl to go along with the exhibit and I was so excited to share them with you,” Twilight said, her face sinking into a pout.

“Aw, Twilight,” Sunset said, leaning over to give her a gentle kiss.

Twilight smiled despite herself.

“Tell you what,” Sunset continued, “Why don’t we go to that frozen yogurt place you like and you can tell me all about Starswirl so I’ll be ready for the exhibit?”

“Really?” Twilight asked, her smile growing wider.

“Yeah, really!”

Twilight reached over and linked her arm with Sunset’s.

“Okay, well I guess I should start at the beginning with...”
