Ah the nostalgia. This is the first utdr fan playlist i ever made !!! and so began the addiction… this playlist is mostly self-explanatory imo. Despotic diva beats with a robotic edge–I gave my myself permission to go full ham on my vocaloid nerdassery with this one, which ended up being a recurring theme in all of these playlists. A particular highlight for me is the thquib cover of “Ghosting” by Mother Mother, which nicely encapsulates MTT’s ghost past, robotic present, and overall sense of loneliness. The cover art is by my irl friend and roommate who doesn't have an art acc but I adore her thank u so much pookay !!! Also gotta reference the fact that “Star” by Mitski is a reference to this INCREDIBLEEEEE animatic by @paintedhen genuinely love it sosososo much i think about it all the time.

A choice selection of mad scientist jams bc who doesn’t love a crazed woman in STEM?? Also went hard on the vocaloid music here bc u know she would let’s not kid ourselves. Mix of more cutesy vocaloid and the darker edgelord stuff (call that the duality of man. or lizard ig). I also added a nice smattering of other chronically online girl type beats, mostly AMV and animation meme classics. These songs to me combine the two elements of Alphys that I find the most endearing and compelling which is 1. goofy cringe fandom girl and 2. plagued by the horrors. A lot (not all, but a lot) of these songs r more dark in tone while still being associated with that “rawr x3” era of fandom that Alphys represents. Also "Star" by Mitski part 2, human fanclub u will always be famous. And lastly um. I put Sticky bc. Bc a lot of the interactable objects in the True Lab r described as “sticky” and. Yeah i think i’m rly funny LOL

this one was interesting to make!! I wanted a more aggressive rock sound, which isn’t typically my genre of choice so i got a lil outside of my comfort zone. In the end, I’m glad i did ! quite pleased with the results if i do say so myself. Not all of the songs are so battle-ready, there’s some peppy party jams and a dash of weeb music to show off Undyne’s more silly/dweeby side. My fav part of this playlist r the two instrumental piano songs bc my fav undyne fact is that she teaches piano. Shes so cute stg :,)

Yes, astute Tumblr user, I do in fact have an alphys playlist, an undyne playlist, AND an alphyne playlist. I have very normal feelings about these two. Obviously. I don’t have a lot to say about this one bc it reuses a lot of the same themes (and some songs) as the individual alphys and undyne playlists. The main difference is that this one is a lot more lighthearted than the other two, to show how being together bring out alphys n undyne’s best/silliest qualities <3 love is so real u guys <3 <3 <3

Last but CERTAINLY not least… my asriel and chara playlist. Oh my godddddd my favorite fandom playlist i’ve ever made i’m being so serious. This is the only one of my undertale playlists that is intended to be listened to in order from start to finish. The songs follow the siblings’ arc from childhood friendship -> death -> corruption -> Evil Era -> post-canon lonely ghosties. Basically it’s the five stages of grief as a video game fanmix. Every single song here has a very specific Reason behind its placement and i could honestly write a whole essay on my thought process choosing each one, but i’ll spare y’all the yap. The most important thing is that the playlist starts with “This Is Home”, which is The Chara And Asriel Song Of All Time imo. The gender dysphoria, the loneliness, the promises for a better future–try to listen to it and not froth at the mouth thinking about them challenge level impossible. The playlist ends with “Cut My Hair” (a remix of “This Is Home”) symbolizing how at the end of Undertale, the two still have those feelings of isolation that they had at the beginning, but they can feel at least a little bit of peace about it, knowing that they once had each other, even if its so different now… mannnnnnnn haunted ghost siblings got me fucked ALLLLLL the way up.

HOWDY MEREMINERS!!!! As my personal bmc renaissance has swept thru my brain like the tornado that took Dorothy to Oz, it has also like Dorothy picked me up and plopped me deep into M(eremine)unchkinland (I’m both Kansas and Dorothy in this metaphor, keep up!). Whenever I get rlyrlyrlyrly obsessed with smth, I tend to want to theme all aspects of my life around, to varying (silly) degrees. This includes me looking for/creating hyperspecific playlists yes yes ur on tumblr u know how fandom works. What I’m trying to say is that I looked on Spotify for meremine playlists and shock! Horror! Scream! Nothing. It was an empty void, no silly lil musical polycules in sight. My heart was broken. My dreams were dashed. But then I realized. I have a Spotify account. I have music taste. I have a brain that draws elaborate and often nonsensical parallels!! I can make a meremine playlist!!! So I did. And that’s what this is. Wahoo!
I was gonna do a whole bullet point break-down of why I chose each song but as I was typing it out it kept sounding more and more red-yarn corkboard and every so slightly Completely Unhinged so uh. Scrapped that!! But I do wanna say that the very first song (karaoke by smallpools) is a reference for the GOAT, the myth, the legend, my favorite meremine fic as well as my favorite bmc fic ever !! OF ALL TIME !! we’ll pass the mic around by @some-silver-reply !! Such an incredible characterization of all three of them I think about it all the time I love it so much but don’t wanna spoil anything so if u care about meremine at all read it I BEG (it does have explicit sex in it tho so keep that in mind if that makes u feel some type of way)!!! This fic has sustained me thru many a meremine-brain-wormed sleepless night and this playlist would have died in the dark cavities of my mindscape without it <3. I spent way longer than I should have pondering whether or not I should only have the perky party-type miku songs but then decided “u know what??? It’s Miku’s party, she can cry if she wants to!!” so it’s a mix of the perky ones and the more edgelord-style content vocaloid fans are know for lolololol.
