The babies are a week old today! (Min on the left & Summer on the right) We're still back and forth between the hospital and home, and will be for the foreseeable future. Well, more like we're at the hospital all day and only go home for 4-5 hours each night to sleep because our bed proves to be more restful than the recliners in the nursery. I have pupps on my belly and it is painfully itchy. We're going to pick up some dandelion root tea tonight and hopefully the store has pine tar soap as well because that's supposed to help. The only time it's bearable is when I'm breastfeeding even though they're laying across my belly. I think it's a combination of the oxytocin release in my brain and the distraction their beautiful faces provide. The babies are doing well but we still aren't talking about discharge and probably won't be until next week. It's tiring. I miss our dog, Lily but I'm grateful she's being well taken care of at my parent's. We're so blessed to live as close as we do to this hospital and that they provide such family centered care. People commute from 3+ hours away for treatment here so I'll never complain about our 20 minute drive. God bless all the parents of all the babies and children here. My level of respect for these families is unparalleled. And thank god for the Ronald McDonald House charity. They're giving us a sanctuary to relax in between feeds. There's donated snacks, bottles of water in the fridge, hot coffee, and a few couches to sit on with a nice tv. It's amazing how far a little compassion goes when you haven't slept and you're recovering from surgery and your babies aren't well. Feeling exhausted and endlessly grateful all at the same time.
