🌻BOOK TOUR A touching story about a rescue dog's bond with his new owners and learning to love and trust despite past trauma and abuse. The ending of this story broke my heart, but it is such an important subject—the loss of an owner from the perspective of the animal. 🌻BOOK REVIEW The Beach Alex Garland 4.5⭐️ Okay, this post may be a little sentimental because this book means a lot to me. It's the book that got me back into reading when I was about 17 years old. I remember seeing the film with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swintom and other amazing actors, and being absolutely obsessed with it, so when I was raving about it to my friends and was told that it was based off of a book, I had to find that book, and, luckily, I was able to borrow it from the friend who told me about it. I fell in love with it and fell in love with reading again. I've read this one many times, but this time I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did the book justice in so many ways. This is one I always recommend and always come back to. I just love it. The sense of adventure, lust, fear, and the unknown are all put together perfectly, and it's extraordinary. 🌻BOOK REVIEW It Ends With Us Colleen Hoover 4.5⭐️ I was given so much warning about this book and I still wasn’t ready. It covers multiple difficult subjects and the way in which it’s told was so realistic it shocked me. The further I got into this book the more I found myself holding my breath. The suspense was outstanding and I was so invested and felt like I was right there with Lily. The way this whole book is written and the realistic portrayal of what went on in the relationship between Lily and Ryle was like nothing I’ve ever read before and it was so intense and real it left me stunned. The author’s note at the end added so much more to the rawness and vulnerability of this entire novel seeing as it was inspired by the authors own true events and experiences with her parents, and how domestic abuse is a gradual thing which is why that makes it so easy to get into and so hard to get out of despite outsiders opinions, and I applaud her for having the bravery to turn it into this fantastic piece of art. I really enjoyed the way the flashbacks were done in the sense that it was through an old diary written as letters to a tv host. It made the whole thing feel more personal and like we really got an insight into who she used to be and the things she went through that no one else knows. It felt like snooping but in an authorised secret sharing way and really helped with putting the two timelines together and how the past has an impact on the now. It was really cleverly done. The whole book was stunning yet tragic from start to end and I can’t wait to read the prequel. Unforeseen love L. S. Pullen 4⭐️ This is a classic enemy to lover/boss & employee/house share trope with the twist of being stuck working AND living together in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic when the country was on lockdown.   I loved how Theo sings along to Harry Styles. Reading those bits made me smile to myself, especially as I read this book very publicly on a train full of other Harry fans on our way to see him live.   I also loved and appreciated how the author captured the importance of consent. I think this is such an important element that a lot of smut books miss, and it gives an unrealistic portrayal of how adult and consensual sex works.   Losing myself in Theo and Sienna’s world was just what I needed! 🌻BOOK REVIEW My Policeman Bethan Roberts 5⭐️ Wow. I don't know how to put into words how much I adore this book without writing an essay, which I could easily do. This is by far my favourite book of the year so far, and it has made it into my top five all-time reads. It's simply stunning. I loved the way it was written both from the point of view of Marion and Patrick, but Marion in a letter type format meant for Patrick and Patrick in a diary type format full of secrets intended to be kept from Marion and the rest of the world. It made the whole book feel so much more personal and emotional, and I absolutely loved it. There were so many beautiful quotes and important phrases. I read this on my kindle, but you can bet I'll be getting a physical copy so I can tab and annotate it to my heart's content. The descriptions of the scenery and the characters were phenomenal and some of the best I've read. It was so easy to fall in love with the characters and really feel their pain, love, and hurt all at once, as if it was me going through it all. I thought the author did an amazing job of setting the era and the politics surrounding the themes of the book, and it was devastatingly beautiful and tragic. This is one I'll read over and over, even if it did make me cry my eyes out. Just stunning. I have no doubt that Harry will make the perfect policeman and do this book justice, along with the rest of the cast for the movie adaptation. 🌻BOOK REVIEW Sarah’s Secrets T. A. Rosewood I really loved the diary format. I loved being able to dive into Sarah's mind and get to know her on a more in depth level. The writing style really suited that of a diary and matched her age well. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into these entries, and I love how we got to know more about Sarah at different ages. I remember keeping a diary at that age, and it brought back nostalgia for me and made me want to start a diary again. I adored the contents, and for me, there is nothing I love more than in-depth character development, so this was the perfect little novella, especially after reading the rest of the Reasonal Lies books. Sarah is the kind of friend we all want and deserve in our lives, and it makes me happy seeing how much she still loves and supports Jane’s family - a true keeper. I found parts of this utterly heartbreaking and Sarah deserved so much more and to not blame herself for the tragedies that seem to unfairly surround her, but I'm glad she met Tom and had him to support her.
