Sirius, when asked to help someone cheat on a test: That’s against my moral compass
Peter: Your moral compass is a freaking roulette wheel
Sirius: What's the difference?
Peter, James, and Remus: groans

The Blacks don’t always agree, but they do very firmly believe in “nobody touches our family but us” and also in making damn sure everyone knows this.
Re: The Black Lake (anyone ever really thought about that name before? hmm...curious little thing)
Someone goes missing suddenly? They're probably keeping the squid sorry Sirius Gilbert company.
Sirius and Regulus may not speak regularly, but God have mercy on whoever hurts their brother because they sure won’t
What would every lead someone to believe the Blacks hold any mercy at all?
Rosier: Where’s Crouch? Haven’t seen him lately
Snape: I heard he got in an argument with Black the Youngest that ended with Crouch holding his wand to Black’s throat and Black laughing
Avery: Should we hold a funeral? Or should we send like a bread basket to the Lake?
Joke's on them. Crouch is the only one who avoided the lake. He sleeps under Sirius' bed in a shoebox on top of a warm rock.
Everyone thought that with Regulus the only Black left in school, it would be peaceful and some students planned on retaliating for previous years now that his family’s gone, but one letter back home later, and those people are being treated by Madam Pomfrey, the Charms class had to be relocated yet again, and the Divination Professor was seen laughing while collecting money from a resigned Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Slughorn
And Regulus enjoys his breakfast the next day happily and in peace, amen
Sirius: I have morals
Remus, with Gryffindor tower eagerly listening in: Oh yeah? What are they? I’m begging you, please tell us what they are
Sirius: Do my own work and don’t let my family get hurt
Remus, completely unsurprised but still disappointed in that answer: That’s the opposite of reassuring
Sirius: is confused
Sirius: but those are good things
Sirius: Right?
Sirius: Yeah, they're good things. Stop having me on, Moons
Rosier won’t say anything, but the day after someone called Sirius a “worthless blood traitor,” a new creature showed up in the lake, started banging on the windows in the Slytherin dorm, and Narcissa blew the lake creature a kiss, before laughing as she headed off to her grinning family members, and it was not a friendly grin
YES IT DID DIDN'T IT
half the grindylows shouldn't be there but we don't talk about that
Slughorn: Can we just ban all other Blacks from Hogwarts when Regulus Black graduates?
McGonagall: No, do you really think Walburga and Orion wouldn’t go to the Board of Governors if we did? Besides, I’ve noticed that people who hurt young Mr. Black still end up harmed, the exact same way it happened when his elder family members attended, they’re getting into school through the wards somehow so I don’t think anything we do could keep them out
Sirius the illegal Animagus. Sirius the prankster. Sirius the knower of tunnels and passageways. Sirius the determined older brother.
