So I recently replayed some Poptropica islands bc...why not? And I replayed Monster Carnival, which I didn't remember much about. And most of it is really good, but oh my god the ending is so shit If you havnt played or dont remember, the villain on this island (who I dont think has a name, they call him Ringmaster Raven) was mistreated both by the town and the carnival he travelled with years ago (pics at the bottom about this from ThinkNoddles playthrough, I did not plan on needing them when I was playing)

He turns the other carnies into monsters and plans to hypnotize the whole town. The player ends up chasing him through the mirror maze and pulls the classic 'use the mirror to hypnotize the hypnotizer' on him and initially instructs him to not hurt anyone else. Fine, probably wouldnt fly as a satisfying ending in higher grade stuff, but not awful given the overall simplistic nature and target age of the game. "Be nice", good message, whatever

BUT THEN THE PLAYER HYPNOTIZES THE MAN WHO WAS KINDA ABUSED FOR BEING A 'BIRDBOY' INTO THINKING HES A CHICKEN AND HE BECOMES AN ATTRACTION FOR THE CARNIVAL?? WTF EVEN THO HE DOESNT KNOW WHATS GOING ON AROUND HIM (it seems) THATS SO SHIT I FELT AWFUL OVER IT? AND FOR WHAT? The dialogue says its 'just to be sure' but we already made him be nice, if that could wear off or stop working so could the chicken thing, there were no extra steps there so its just as fallible

I don't think it was intended to be this way, I can totally see the target audience being like 'lol you got defeated' and not looking past there (which is either how I felt about it or I didnt ever finish it. Probably the latter, I didnt remember the last chunk of the island at all and it came out around the time I only played the game to replay my favorite islands) but ohmyGOD playing it with more comprehension makes me so sad
