HOT WORDS IN A YEAR ON TWITTER

Connecting the dots of a journalist/blogger’s year in top words Tweeted turns up familiar bedfellows — #NYC and #coffee, ranking first and seventh, respectively, in 2012. As it turns out, the term #1 figured into the top 10, placing number 4, in a world of words as visualized by Vizify.

Planet Vizify features a slick digital-analog timeline slide rule that reveals the Tweets themselves that are home to the hot words. Hashtags and naked words both are fodder for the Tweetfest. Just three of the unhashed variety appeared in this particular array, led ironically by the word “list.”

Clicking on Vizify’s word bubbles reveals an individual’s Tweets; serendipity showed the hot yearend catchphrase “fiscal cliff” Tweeted by this writer on May 1, in quoting former Treasury Secretary John Snow during his talk at Syracuse University’s Lubin House.
