Twitter Header Tutorial #2
So... people asked me to make a tutorial on this header so here it is.
1) For starters, open a new canvas with these settings:
(most people make their headers 500x250px so if you prefer that, go right ahead)
2) »this one is optional« Open and place your template and use it as a guideline so your pictures will be perfectly placed. Like this:
3) Next, once you've selected your pictures, open all of them on photoshop. We're using 6 pictures for this particular one.
4) Resize and place the first picture as you please. Remember you can always change it up later, if you need. You should have something like this:
5) Now once you know what the second picture you want to use is, repeat step 4 but place it on the right side of your canvas. Like that:
Now obviously you're not gonna leave it like that, it needs to look more natural. Which leads us to...
6) Using the eraser tool,
, erase the edges of the picture on the right. Erase as much as you need to blend both photos together. It should now have a more natural look, like this:
At this point you can choose what to do first but I'm gonna start with the 3 small pictures, so...
7) Open the 3 pictures you want to use for this step. Now, select the cropping tool,
, and add these settings:
8) Crop all 3 of your pictures and move them to your canvas. Place them right next to each other in the order you prefer. Like this:
9) Now select all three and merge them together: right click > merge layers.
10) Now moving on to the cutout. Using the quick selection tool,
, you're gonna select Lucy and delete the background. Basically, you're making a png. Once you've selected her only it should look like this:
It may not be perfect (mine are barely presentable) but you can fix it up later using the eraser tool to mend the biggest problems. It'll look a lot better once it's mixed with the rest of your pictures though so don't worry.
11) So now you resize it, move it to your canvas and place it as you want. Mine looks like this:
Remember you have to place it under the three small squares.
12) Sharpen every single one of your pictures. You can either go to filter > sharpen > sharpen OR use your normal sharpening settings.
13) Add the name of the celebrity, your credit, any textures or other effects you want. Finish off with a psd and voilá!
This is a preview of my final result:
Hope this is helpful and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)
