So for the past couple of weeks something strange started happening on the Brazilian side of Twitter. Users started receiving that standard message from Twitter you receive when you report an account. Except these people hadn't reported anyone. Which accounts were being reported by unwitting third parties? Left leaning or just anti-Bolsonaro accounts, as well as accounts of journalists and fake news combative users.

Users started asking Twitter what was happening. Twitter's response? This is by design. Anyone can report users in the name of other users. They try to justify this saying it's for when users are locked out of their accounts or afraid to report users themselves. They are also very sorry this built in tool is being misused.
