British Christmas      Day 28-30      Twixmas

A portmanteau of between or betwixt with Christmas.

(UK, slang) The period in between Christmas and New Year, typically December 27th-30th.

Not a chocolate bar at all, but a word om the old fashioned word 'betwixt', meaning between. It can be a peculiar few days, between the 27th and 30th December, when families are often thrown together and the dangerous combination of too much food, drink and boredom can have unpleasant consequences!

Opinions vary as to its origin, but most agree that it was made up by the travel and leisure business hoping to get people to go away for a few days’ break after all the hubbub of a family Christmas. 

Because it became so confused in a lot of people’s minds with the chocolate bar (one of my favourites) the company decided to jump on the bandwagon.
