TWO 4 ONE (2014) dir. Maureen Bradley Adam is a trans man who agrees to have a one-night stand with his ex-girlfriend Miriam during which he uses a mail order at-home pregnancy kit to artificially inseminate her with donated sperm. However, an accident during the encounter leaves both Adam and Miriam pregnant, forcing Adam to confront the ways in which the pregnancy will influence his sense of gender identity. (link in title)

SO GUYS HERE'S A REALLY COOL THING...

Two 4 One is a soon-to-be-released feature film written and directed by Maureen Bradley, a queer woman who works at my school! She's a super cool nice person and the other night my department got to watch a sneak peek screening of part of the film and I am so pumped for it.

Here's the description on IMDB:

When Adam helps his nutty ex-girlfriend Miriam artificially inseminate, it turns into a one-night stand-- and they both wind up pregnant. You see, Adam has been transitioning to living as a man. Now torn between his feelings for Miriam and his need for a masculine identity, Adam must figure out whether he's going to settle down and have a baby, or just try to be one of the guys.

On its Indiegogo page (it was partially funded on Indiegogo back in 2013) it's described as a romantic comedy with a transgender romantic lead. How cool does that sound?

A lot of the people working on it (including the writer/director, the producer and the designer) are queer and it's written, directed and filmed by women. And from the sneak peek I got to see last night (and from what I know of Maureen Bradley) it handles queer issues really well! While still having that irreverent, off the wall romantic comedy feel.

I'm not exactly sure when it comes out, but it should be really soon. It's already in post-production, there was a screening in Calgary I think last night?

I'm REALLY EXCITED about this and I'll keep you updated...

(And it has a mostly if not entirely Canadian cast and it's actually both filmed in and set in Canada! Which is pretty exciting for Canadians because we don't get a lot of movies like that.)
