“Well, it's my ship, see. It's gone off to the West Indies and I've got a shore posting. In barracks for six months.”
Classic Who Companions | Ben Jackson
Review: Early Adventures The Night Witches released Sep 2017.
Can we pause to savor the fact that with Elliot Chapman — the best BF recasting so far, picked for his voice, who wrote a great Ben Jackson Manifesto with meta about every TV serial featuring the character — and Frazer doing double duty for Patrick, we can have new Second Doctor era adventures that might as well be Main Range? (Except they’ve still got Auntie Anneke narrating now and then, but she’s so good at it).
Also, whoever’s doing the cover art for their EAs is fantastic.
That the Doctor, Zoe, and Jamie canonically have picnics whenever they land in nice places this makes me so happy
Thoughts so far about ‘The Forsaken’
We’re halfway through the audio and enjoying it a lot.
Team Doctor, Ben, Polly, Jamie are being cute as usual
It really feels totally Two era.
Yay for the Chase Mary Celeste reference!
Ben was born in 1942 huh, thought he was younger than that for some reason.
And Ben meeting his Dad awwww so great.
But ok when Ben and his Dad are in the same scene we can’t tell who is who because they have matching voices but they are both adorable.
Elliot Chapman as Ben is doing a great job. He was great in ‘the Yes Men’ but sort of disappeared toward the end of the story but this seems more Ben focused which we’re really pleased about.
Please let Polly explore, Doctor!
Also please be a Ben and Polly scene. We know its difficult because its easy for Jamie and the Doctor to be in separate scenes because of Fraser voicing both or whatever but we need Ben and Polly to have some alone time.
Ooh creepy, and love the war time setting.
Polly’s Mum bakes victoria sponges, good to know.
Hopefully the next hour will be as good if not better. But too tired to listen right now so will resume tomorrow. What we love most about all these Early Adventures is the way they really capture their eras, both the One era and the Two era ones have been really great and its lovely.
I found The Uncertainty Principle!!! I’m so excited!!!! I was so upset when I thought I lost it!!
I might possibly be nearly done with the idea-developing process of my wandlore post and along with the actual composition of the Doctor's wands there are some very interesting headcanons emerging.
The Sixth Doctor's patronus is definitely a peacock.
Two's may or may not be a Scottish terrier, though this was strangely not true at the start of eir regeneration...
Shockingly, the effects of the molecular rearrangement due to the opening of the Eye of Harmony are known to alter a wand in a manner similar to that experienced by Mr. Ronald Weasley in the Chamber of Secrets after the accident with the Whomping Willow -- a notable consequence being that the Eighth Doctor's wand would unfortunately perform Obliviate backwards...
