I can’t believe the boy is 1 next month - he’s growing up so fast!

We had our video consultation with the clinic yesterday - I was very relieved to hear that I have a fairly high AMH level! All signs so far point to me being okay to do IUI so the next step is to get my tubes checked in the middle of my next cycle then, all being well, we should be okay to start! We have 1 vial of sperm left from when we made the boy so we’re gonna start with that and, if necessary, we’ll buy more in a few months once we have saved a bit more. From what I have read, it looks like Brexit will have made getting the sperm imported from Denmark even more pricey than before!

It’s crazy to think we could be trying for baby number 2 in May! 😱

This is the reality of fertility treatments for LGBT+ people.

I have PCOS.

But my underlying fertility issue is “no male partner”.

WHAT?

If I was heterosexual and my cycle was this long, the NHS would fund treatment.

But because I’m a gay lady, it’s costing us thousands of pounds per cycle of treatment.

So far, two cycles of IUI have been cancelled due to my PCOS and the fact that it wasn’t considered as an underlying fertility issue.

This has cost us about £7000 so far.

Now we’re moving up to IVF.

One cycle alone is costing around £7000. A total of £14000.

For reference, our MORTGAGE repayments are only around £6000 a year.

Our house is costing us less money than IVF.

If we were heterosexual the cost so far would have been £0

How is this equal?

sex education is honestly one of my absolute favourite shows, it is hilarious but also heartwrenching and the characters and their friendships and everything are adorable!! but i have two issues with it:

in season one when jackson is angry with his mums he gets a call from one of them and ignores it, but which mum is it??? it just says mum?? what is his other mum saved as?? obviously he probably knows which mum he is airing but i would also like to know? please can netflix or somebody with braincells tell me (i guess it’s the blonde mum, but how do we know this for sure??)

in season two i was really looking forward to the ola and lily ship, literally as soon as ola joined moordale i was ready for it, they should have been perfect together, right? but the way they got together?? ew!! it’s immediately after the consent/detention scene and then ola blames lily for not talking to her in school for the past week,,, like?? you kissed her without her consent!!! and then blame her for being upset about it??? and i get that ola was hurt, but she still had no right to blame lily for being uncomfortable after being kissed without consenting! and what really angers me is that the writers just seem to ignore this? and lily ends up apologising for ignoring ola?? and this happens literally straight after all the girls were discussing sexual harrasment etc. just.... consent is just as important when it’s not man against woman!!! and i feel like they have this same problem with otis and ruby, otis was so worried with ruby’s consent, but if he was blackout drunk and can’t remember them having sex, then he can’t have given his consent!!

point 1 is kinda jokey and point 2 is not, but oh well, so be it
