Once again going feral over the two color process Technicolor look...
In order:
The Aviator (2004)
The Black Pirate (1926)
The Toll of the Sea (1922)
After four weeks, this painting is finally done.
Title: "Strawberry, Sweet, Strawberry!"
Type: Acrylic on canvas (with acrylic watercolor tint)
Year: Late-March to Early April
Set in a diner, the table consists of various strawberry foods, drinks and desserts: slice of strawberry cake, strawberry cheesecake, a regular cheesecake with strawberry toppings, a jar of strawberry jam with the jam on the toast, strawberry pancakes, strawberry lemonade, strawberry milkshake, strawberry soda, strawberry sundae, strawberry sugar cookies, strawberry smoothies, strawberry cupcakes, strawberry donuts, strawberry syrup, and pieces of strawberries on the center of the table.
This painting mimicking the Two-Strip Technicolor/Cinecolor process, an early color film process of the 1920s to 1940s, where it's only use of colors where green and red hues and tints.
As I did with my black-and-white paintings, this was meant to showcase the beauty of old films and my love of classic movies, and also my love of strawberry. So much green and red hues, a watercolor vermilion tint, it was a fun challenge and something I wouldn't mind trying again.

Two Strip Technicolor Nitrate film. Fay Wray in Dr. X, 1932.
Really cool color test footage of Mary Pickford for Doug Fairbanks’ The Black Pirate. I really wish those two had gotten to do a silent film where they get to be cute and badass together.
I will admit, it’s weird seeing Pickford as a brunette, but she looks great in that outfit!
