The Marine Douglas Skycrane C-117D was phased out of service on July 12, 1976, the last C-117D (Douglas DC-3), perhaps the most famous transport plane of all time. The last one C-117D was flown from Pensacola to Davis Mountan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona, then moved to the Pima Air Museum for display in Tucson.
