Team Agape Takes Australia: Sydney, Australia
Howdy, folks!
Back by popular demand, it’s yours truly, Aliska Berry, reporting on her whereabouts and spur-of-the-moment escapades in the Land Down Under!
Let’s just start off by saying that life has recently treated me quite well:
~moved into my own single and enjoying the peacefulness of having my own space
~completed multiple assessments [assignments]
~rainmageddon died down enough for us to have an enjoyable, sunlit weekend
~had a GNO [girl's night out] that'll never be forgotten - more on that later!
~MINELIK SISAY TOUCHED DOWN IN NEW SOUTH WALES [my state]
Needless to say, the ultimate mantra of the past couple of weeks: “God is good.”
Team Agape Takes Australia: Sydney, Australia
So, the adventure of the week began with the earliest of Saturday train rides (6:43am to be exact) to Australia’s most popular metropolis: SYDNEY. I was going back for a wonderful reunion with my true love, SYD!! And Minelik was gonna be there too. ;)
After some weeks of separation, Min and I were finally meeting up in the Land Down Under, and I was TOO KEEN [excited]! We got lucky with finding each other at Circular Quay, as neither one of us currently has the five-star cell service America’s spoiled us with. Let me tell you, seeing this man at the train station with his newly bought shark tooth necklace, Birkenstocks, and cuffed Aussie shorts was an absolute dream come true. I’d been hoping for that moment for almost a year, and I couldn’t believe it had actually come true!
Vision is truly reality, and I’ve become such a firm believer in the notion that anything is possible with belief and persistence. #teamagapelesssgoooo
Bean and I explored the Rocks, a historically intricate marketplace of shops and merchants woven into the streets closely surrounding the Harbour. It was a great way to discover more of Aussie culture at its heart and learn more about Sydney’s early settlement. Following this, we walked around Sydney Cove and watching Min’s amazement at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House brought me true joy. We had lunch at a cute café by the Harbour’s side, and tried not to get carried away by the hundreds of seagulls there! Though it didn’t help that Min was trying to feed them every 5 seconds…. ;)
Nevertheless, we ventured further into the Royal Botanical Garden, whose lush greenery took my breath away, before heading back to Wollongong to explore yet another Australian gem! As if on the set of a movie, Min met all my buds in a matter of 5 minutes. It couldn’t have worked out any better! They literally just popped up out of nowhere as he and I entered the premises – perfect timing on their part!
Our Wollongong excursion was truly jam-packed, consisting of a Domino’s run (we’re American-food deprived, people), a beach adventure and so much more! The highlights were in the little things and are to be treasured forever. I’m ecstatic that Min was able to see the life I’ve been given here on the eastern Australian coast, and I’m sure I’ll be on cloud 9 until I fly out to visit him soon! So glad to be on this journey with my partner in crime, and looking forward to our next excursion!! More pics to follow.
Where in the world will they go next?... ;)
To be continued,
Aliska
