Are you still talking to them? Keep them in a conversation. Here are some alternatives you can talk to them about trying instead of cutting. Helping them with the root of their problem might help with the urge as well.

i really enjoy cleaning but seriously fuck doing dishes i need to run my hands under hot water just to burn the feeling of slime off them
