Did anyone say Siren x Scientist AU?

I usually don't do MerMay, but since this AU of Lukas and Merlon has been haunting my brain anyway, thought might as well.

Some rambling about the AU under the cut:

Fun fact: Merlon's tail is based on a lionfish!

Dr. Lukas Blackwell is an up-and-coming Marine biologist with the goal to explore the unknown depths of the ocean. An old colleague of his mother, Oleandra, took him in as a lab assistant, giving Lukas the opportunity to learn from a seasoned scientist.

In the lab he meets "The Siren" or as he later discovers, the individual called Merlon.

Uneasy at the sight, Lukas pushes those feelings down and gets to work. It's just a fish mimicking the appearance of a human to lure in prey, that's all.

Things change quickly when Merlon messes up and speaks in perfect English around the new lab assistant. While getting to know the Siren shrouded in mystery, they formulate a plan to set Merlon free. Drama ensues.
