〝 the students of engelmann had the peculiar audacity of being outrageously handsome, deafeningly intellectual, and tremendously weathly. all of them. of course, this wasn’t so much of their own doing; it was more so the repercussions of lives teeming with grandeur and ostentatiousness. hugo was smart, of course. it was the first trait his mother made a point to nurture. however, one he hadn’t been birthed with, rather developed on his own time (contrary to his comrades on campus), was the desire to kill. 〞

engelmann university is tucked into the evergreen forests comprising the olympic peninsula. it groans with age and lengthy ivy. much beyond the campus boundaries, a horrific event took place. with so much as a single drop of cyanide in the evening wine of a practicing cult’s dinner, fifty-seven people became one with nature; their bodies fading into mushrooms and moss. it is their book, the divine instructions of the maderno cult, that throws us into our story ... 

herein lies the story of how the engelmann five wished for eternal life and found it.
