You think I'm crazy...
X-Files Rewatch: 1x1
GA's first scene. Can I just say, this woman has aged incredibly gracefully. She doesn't look too different now than she did back then. Beautiful.
"We leave for the very plausible state of Oregon." Scully's little smile. First day and he's already making her smile.
"with a little lemon twist that's to die for, pardon the expression" LOL! OMG Mulder's dark humor...I forgot about that. Love it.
I got into sunflower seeds because of Mulder.
"What the hell was that about?" "Oh, you know, probably nothing." Easing her in. Smart move.
THAT IMPLANT. ASDFJKL; from the freakin beginning. And that chick's nosebleed. Giving me unpleasant flashbacks.
Discovery of the marks on Peggy's body...These little moments, this is their whole partnership. He makes these incredible intuitive leaps that come from seemingly nowhere, and Scully is both amazed and frustrated by it.
"How did you know about the marks?" "I don't know, lucky guess?" Insert Felicity's 'I call bullshit' head tilt here.
You know, I'm going to pause here and make an observation. Knowing what I know about the evolution of their relationship, it's really interesting to me how Mulder is behaving with Scully. He's kind of condescending. Like he thinks she's narrow minded. "I'll let you know when we get past the easy part." "I don't think you're ready for it." I mean, I guess he's always like that, and she frustrates him, but it's very apparent in this first ep. Like he's on his high horse, and he's gonna teach her a couple of things. Ha.
And you know what, on another level, he does teach her new things. Her horizons are getting expanded. The core of her belief is still true, that there's a scientific explanation for everything, but science hasn't understood everything there is to understand yet, and that's the journey she's on. God I love these two.
Bathroom scene: DAMN SHE'S FINE.
Dropping the robe, I love how Mulder's just frozen at first. Like all higher functions have ceased, blood rushed south, and he was looking at a hot woman in her underwear. UST.
Then she hugged him in relief. And the look on his face...like, "Oh. This is...heart tugging. She was genuinely scared. This makes me feel things. Protective things. Heart things." "Are you okay?"
Then he opens up to her. CONNECTION. INTIMACY. The first gd episode. IS IT ANY WONDER THAT I FELL IN LOVE WITH THESE TWO?????
And she really listened to him. Asking all the right questions. He was no longer the crazy alien guy. She had compassion for his pain. His quest became important to her.
"I'm not a part of any agenda. You've got to trust me." GAH.
XPHILICITY FEELS. THIS RELATIONSHIP BEGAN WITH TRUST. JUST LIKE OLICITY. TRUST AND A FOUNDATION OF RESPECT AND FRIENDSHIP. AAAHHHH
Scully noticing Peggy's watch. Good on you girl. Mulder's words stayed with her.
Scully's laughter in the rain...she's like, "Is this really my life right now???"
Mulder stopping Scully from tailspinning after she took samples of "stuff" from Billy's foot. "I just want to make sure you know what you're saying. You have to write it in your report." That is respect. He may find her devotion to logic frustrating sometimes, but he highly respects it, and makes sure she is true to herself. Bravo, man.
Of course Scully gets knocked out. It's practically a trope at this point. Knock Scully out so she misses the "fantasical" stuff. HA! Oh, she's not out, but she still misses it. All she sees is light, which can still be rationalized as something plausible.
"Scully!" Ahhhh, how I've missed that. It's a subdued version, not the all out desperate "SCULLAAAAAYYYY" that we've all come to love, but the beginnings of it is there.
CSM. >:( You'll get yours, buddy.
"I see no evidence that justifies the legitimacy of these investigations." They've been trying to shut down the X-Files since day one. Bastards.
Scully whips out the implant. EVIDENCE, BITCH! That is how she plays. BOOM! She's on Mulder's side now!
She can't sleep. I wonder why. I think it's because her entire foundation shifted a little. That's gotta keep the hamsters spinning, no?
OH MAN! THIS WAS SO FUN! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT ONE.
My faves:
I have a bad memory. But after perusing other people's entries, I agree with Squeeze and Tooms. Not the least because Tooms has the iced tea scene. Ice and Beyond the Sea are also awesome.
