That was a hard funeral, but it was good to see everyone again. Good bye Matt. You’ll always be a part of my college memories. The Ravenclaw family flock is one smaller, but that much more stronger.
hey i just transfered to txst and have been walking past the quidditch tent on the quad and remembered your posts about the team :) Also i forgot your url at first and got it mixed up with john greens tumblr god lmao
Haha glad you saw the club tabling in the quad! Lmao I hope you had fun on John’s blog :p
Have a great fall semester!
How exactly do quidditch practices get scheduled? I wanna play but my class schedule isn't very good right now and I'm afraid I won't have time to attend practices let alone play in games :(
They get scheduled according to when campus recreation gives us field time. I’m not sure when they will be in the Fall, but most likely practices will be 3 days a week at night. For example it could be like M 8-9:30, W 7-8:30, TR 8-9:30. Varsity and JV games will always be on weekends at tournaments hosted usually at other schools. (We host around 1-3 tournaments a year)
So as long as you’re not taking a lot of night classes, you’ll totally be able to go to practices.
Hey! I was looking into playing Quidditch at Texas State, what's it like? The actual sport and environment of the team, and do you have any tips for it? Thank you so much!!!
Hey! Always happy to answer questions about quidditch. The actual sport itself is like the running from soccer (if you’re a chaser), the tackling aspects of rugby, all mixed in with dodgeball. TXST quidditch is open to any bobcat who wants to play. We have a Varsity and JV team, along with house (G/S/R/H) teams for less serious games. The team usually practices 2-3 times per week on campus. At this years nationals, we got second place losing to a community team, but we are the best ranked college program.
The team itself is like a big family. Everyone is so dedicated to the club and to each other. It’s a great place to find friends for your university time, and for life.
I would say follow us on Instagram, twitter and Facebook to keep up with what we are doing. I’m pretty sure the handle is txstquiddich for most media. We will be at new student orientations all summer, and closer to the start of fall we will be posting information about when and where our first meeting will be.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
It's been lit
I just went to my last end of the year feast for txst quidditch. It's been a pretty awesome 6 years. It's a weird feeling. Like I sat and talked with people - it's a very social group of people, but I felt like... an outsider. I found myself standing alone a lot. But it was in good way I think. It was like a parent knowing their kid is going to be all right. All the incoming officers are going to be great. I've watched them all grow so much since they joined and become awesome leaders. Leaving the org when we can claim to be the best collegiate program in the nation is a great feeling. Diamonds up 💎
Yesterday we had our last round of house games for the semester! Thanks for all of our dedicated members that showed up and played their hearts out all semester, and congratulations to Slytherin on winning the championship against gryffindor, taking home the House Cup! 🐍#txstquidditch #HouseGames
We love our fans! 😛After coming in second place at the #ThreauxMeSomethingMister tournament in New Orleans, a lovely fan had to get a picture with part of our team as we feasted on beignets! #TXSTQuidditch (at Cafe Du Monde Coffee Stand)
