I do not understand how calling him "princess" is cruel or demeaning. I understand it could be, if princesses were considered lesser than princes, but they are equal, no? It does not have to be a gendered title.

Maybe it’s enough to dissolve here in the ground. His skin will rot and bloat, eaten away by worms. They’ll burrow into his eyes and pour out his mouth. When they’ve scrapped his meat clean, and the earth has taken what it needs from him, his bones will remain. 

In the future his skull will rest in the hands of something different. Cracked and weathered and unnamed. They won’t know him, but they’ll know he was here. They will find a set of bones alongside him, twisted with roots and clung with flowers. Maybe they’ll find a tree unlike any other grown above them and know those bones.
