I forgot how much I loved the Ember Island episode of ATLA. I can’t even pick my favorite part because every part of it is amazing.
Possibly it’s that Azula uses Zuko’s fucking back as a springboard to kick the ball in beach volleyball. He was leaning over and everything. Did they plan that? Is that their signature move, to use Zuko as a springboard? Is Azula just so used to stepping on Zuko and his hopes and dreams that she does it automatically?
Or maybe it’s how SUPER FUCKING AMAZINGLY LESBIAN Ty Li and Azula are. Ty Li is literally standing there telling Azula she’s the prettiest smartest most wonderful girl in the world and trying to teach her how to flirt. By fake flirting with her. Wonderful fire lesbians.
In that vein, watching Azula try to interact with boys while not making them shit their pants in terror is a close third.
Runner-ups include Zuko’s incredibly strong angst (and rockstar hair), Zuko and Mei’s status as the ultimate apathetic power couple, old ladies rockin’ some bikinis, and the sheer fact that a conqueror of an entire nation/would be murderer is just chillin by a fire yelling about her feelings with her friends
