“Although I did not have all that much time for it, I used to hold classes to our apprentices and teach prospective summoners how the ritual worked, or how to properly cooperate with their champions. Despite the occasional impertinent student, or their juvenile nature to lose focus during the seminaries, I enjoyed it a great deal. I made me consider opening a school had I ever retired from the League.”

“Occasionally came an incredibly gifted scion, and I made a point to take them under my wing and tutelage. They all made me proud with their exceptional performance … though some eventually saw me as a rival, letting their pride have them believe that the student can overcome the master. I did not take pleasure in humbling them … “

“I even had an apprentice that had no developed magical abilities yet … but I could feel the potential practically brim in her. She was a rabbit by nature, but her heart … the goodness within her heart will move mountains someday.”

She paused for a moment, sighing. “It was nice, having someone to actively talk metamagical theory and practice with. I often find myself wondering what happened to them, however … after the League fell.”

“Hmm … how about - … No. No. Hold on …”

“One time I took my Father’s House Seal and stamped a lot of random places in the manor with it. I honestly do not remember what I was thinking then … I probably just liked the drawing of our family Falcon. My parents still found several places stamped with it years after that happened, though!” She let out a soft and slightly mischievous giggle.

“Mmmm … I remember when I was an apprentice, having begun my two-year study to become a summoner. The Institute of War was such a fascinating place for me … it was the first time I had left Demacia City, and by myself, too … it was scary at the beginning, I will admit - but once I stopped getting lost, I found all these secrets and routes. It began to feel like an adventure …”

“And the Library …” She let out a wistful sigh. “It was different back then. Every archivist of the Knowledge-Keepers kept changing it. I spent so many days just being there, reading books. I had so much to learn - and I was looking forward for it, too. Just me and my tomes - the world was so simple back then …”

Another sigh - this time rueful.

“I still remember when my hummingbirds first hatched … such tiny little creatures. So fragile. They were featherless and had to be kept warm constantly. I used to keep them in a box stuffed with woolly blankets and feathers from our falcons, and feed them sugar-water with a needle. I often had to wake up in the middle of the night because of their incessant tweeting … but it made me feel proud of myself. I know Father was …”

“They grew up to be the best kind of companions a girl could ask for.” She chuckled softly. “I only hope I was a good enough ‘mother’ for them, though …”

“I suppose I was too young to remember this, but Father never failed to tell me this story … and Mother never failed to get sour at him for it. When I was little, Father was showing me the falcons on the balcony, when the one that I was petting decided to take flight. I must have thought that I could fly, or perhaps I just wanted him to come back, but when my Father turned around, he only barely caught me from jumping off!”

A short yet slightly awkward chuckle ensued … before she stared at the floor. “… I do not know why I found that funny.”

Tybresa tilted her head, a shadow of a smile playing on her lips as she thought upon the question. “… I often find myself clinging to the past, in order to help me cope with all the present stress.”

“I like to think about childhood home … how happy I was, with both my mother and my father around. We used to have such good fun, too - there were not many children around that I could play with, but my mother made do when Father was busy. She kept me busy with chess, or hide-and-seek … She used to set up treasure hunts for me. Gave me riddles I had to guess, in order to find her.”

She paused for a moment, before she began laughing - and by the time she finished, the glimmer of a tear could be caught in her eye. “Come to think of it, she is the reason why I like riddles so much. I also realize that she was always keeping me on my toes … Sharp like a blade. I guess she expected me to be a warrior like her. Not …”

Another pause, words trailing off. “Well. Never mind that now.”
