My second semester at my new university has ended and I hate to admit it but I struggled a lot... again. I put in countless hours toward my classes, didnt get back to my apartment until 12am or sometimes 3am and in the end I did not get the result that I was hoping for. I won’t graduate on time at this rate, but I won’t let this set back deter me.
Finals week has arrived and I’m pulling an all-nighter with some friends. Today’s subject? Geology- only because I’m in two geology classes that have NO RELATION TO EACH OTHER. So I’m pretty stressed right now. In other news, I reached 900 followers!! Thank you guys so much!! ❤️❤️
The desk in my apartment! After I took this photo, I turned it side ways and added a large whiteboard on the right wall so I could solve coding problems. I’ll post my goals for the semester sometime over the weekend.
Hi all! It’s been a while since my last post. I told myself that I would try to post more often but I’m currently dealing with two deaths in my family. The semester just started so I’ll try my best to be active. Thank you for continuing to follow me throughout my journey!

Hey guys, I know I haven’t been active for four months, but I’m back and ready to give this semester my all. I don’t really check my follower count, but something told me to because I had a major influx of reblogs on an old post and holy crap guys. 1K?! Thank You guys so much. I’ll try to be more active this semester and post more original content. In the meantime you can see what I’ve been up to on my Instagram @tylerthecomputerscientist !
Hey guys, so now that the semester has ended I just want to talk about it.
At the beginning of the year, I transferred to a new university from my old one. Simply for the fact that my previous university had this weird thing where they didn’t offer Computer science as a bachelors. You had to get an associates first and then you have the option to move on to get your bachelors there or transfer to a different school and get your bachelors. I decided to transfer because level of education at my old college was poor. I mean absolutely disgusting and I did not want to get my degree from there. So I transferred.
I don’t know where to begin to describe my new university. I will tell you this. They are amazing. They truly care for their students and honestly want us to succeed. I kid you not. The Computer science program is one of the top in the state and I can see why. Unfortunately for me, when I arrived they changed the Computer science curriculum. I had to take a data structures course (because they didn’t accept the credit from my old college) and this new course that used to be a 400 level course (300+ level courses are extremely hard) called systems programming. Taking those two courses together was honestly the biggest struggle for me. Both taught different programming languages and we had two week projects due on the same day for the entire semester. So every two weeks the professors would assign projects due on the same day (there were times when it off by a day or so). It didn’t help that I was extremely lost in the data structures course because it involved programming which was a huge contrast to my old college where we were taught data structure concepts alone. I ended up dropping the course because I was taking 16 credits total and my grades in the other courses were suffering badly.
I ended up failing systems programming and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Everyone kept assuring me that it was okay because it was my first semester and I was adjusting. And I do want to assure you guys that I’m fine, and I have a plan that will help me get on track. Now! onto the good stuff. To help me next semester I was thinking of starting a YouTube channel. I would post the usual “Study with me” videos and give you guys a tour of my room and stuff because your girl is living in an apartment next year! But mostly, the channel will be a way for me to hold myself accountable (although I think I did a good job posting this semester) and to ask the Comp sci side of YouTube for help. If I’m stuck on a concept I would post the way I think about it /approach it and if someone thinks of another way that is easier it would completely help me. And it helps you too!! (Well those of you that are studying Computer science). Anyway sorry for the long post, but that’s all for now!
I’m alive! I promise. I’ve just been studying my butt off. I’m doing great in all of my classes. Here’s a picture of me studying linear algebra a few days ago. I post more on my Instagram so feel free to follow me @tyler.fps (fun fact: you’ll actually see my face)
First day of classes at my university begin tomorrow! I’m still unpacking and settling into my dorm. I left my main kanji book back home but somehow managed to remember to bring Genki and my 600 Japanese verbs book. The Kanji book on top is from the Japanese book store pictured in my previous post.
