Just wondering, Which tablet did you end up getting? a while ago you were talking about the hk1560 and the other ugee tablet.
i got the hk1560. heres a photo of it i took yesterday where you can clearly see all of its features:
your ocs are heck cute.
thanks a heckin lot!
Sorry to ask you another question, cause the last one was also way long, but i feel like i should also ask (cause i'm curious myself)... you have really strong posing to a lot of your drawings. whats your personal process that goes into that? intuition, references, etc?
no no don’t worry, these are interesting questions!
but I use sooooooo many references I usually gather a bunch that give the vibe I’m going for and just play around with mixing and matching aspects from each of them. If a pose is really giving me trouble, I’ll trace my references a few time too just to get the feel of the lines I’m aiming for. It can help out a lot, and after a while of doing stuff like that, eventually some of it does start to become intuition.
if it’s something like the posing of hands or arms, I often just use my own for reference too, tho the translation of 3d to 2d can be troublesome sometimes
This is a kinda heavy question that i feel every artist should have answers for. What is your number one influence on your personal style, What made you get into art, what was the turning point for you that made you really want to pursue art, and do you have any particular aspirations? Love your stuff!
ok well you asked for it and it’s gonna be long so here we gooo
uh, let’s seee, I was inspired by a lot of anime as a kid and now, in these modern times, I can so quickly load my brain with so much different art every day that it’s hard to pin down anything in my own. I feel like I’ve been so influenced by so many things over the years that it’s all become muddled together that the influences can’t really be distinguished anymore? which I suppose is kinda the whole goal so guess I’m good on that front.
it seems cliche, but I really have been drawing as long as I can remember. I just really loved making characters and worlds for myself and drawing them was the best way I could express my ideas. It was also how me and my closest childhood friend bonded b/c we honestly had no other similar interests.
For the longest time I never really thought I was good enough to do anything with my art, so I didn’t go to an art college like my friends. In college I had no major, nothing really felt like it was right for me. I figured I would just end up in an office or service job forever because I didn’t have any big dreams or passions. The only things I liked doing were playing video games and drawing. They were the only things I could manage to do without giving up.
I attempted having a wage job but while I was working had a car accident which more or less turned me off driving completely. I needed money tho, for my student loans, and I was running out of savings. It was just this year really that I realized people liked my stuff and were more than willing to actually pay for it and I just started going with it. Things were a little messy and slow at first but I started getting on a schedule and, these last few months especially, I’ve been getting more commission inquiries than I have time for!
One day, I’d really love to be able to make a living off my art. As it stands, between bouts of severe lack of energy and motivation and probably undercharging, I don’t make nearly enough to support myself, but I’m hoping one day I can or that I can at least make a decent amount to be able to live with friends rather than at home whether it’s through commission and freelance work or maybe even a bigger gig(character design is what I really like to do).
phew, oh boy that was a doozy thank you!
