Sometimes all the whisky and midnights and graveyards and bookshops feel like A Bit Too Much and I have to go hide in the country for a month. This is Tyninghame, in East Lothian, and let me tell you it is heaven.
These are from yesterday, I'm counting them.

Miles with no car-parking fees.
The car park and approach to Tyninghame road-end looked full, so parked up on the verge (saving £2) and then walked to Seacliff Beach to avoid the £3 charge there. Once on Ravensheugh Sands switched to swim sandals and paddled my way along the coast. Timed to coincide with low tide to get round Scoughall Rocks. Not too bad going, though one slimy section near the end that it might have been better spending time figuring out a better route, My plan to spend time at Seacliff photographing came to nought as when I rounded the final headland I was greeted by the sight of the most people I’d ever seen on a Scottish beach. So no terns. So had a quick swim and then walked up the access track and returned via a series of tracks.
