Tyord Interview
In early spring of last year, I created a Facebook group called fєёd му ёaя₴. ёжpaпd уоцґ мїиd. The group was dedicated to electronic artists who were interested in getting feedback and growing relationships. From the start, we had a young and lesser known who was all in. He was always commenting on peoples tracks and eager to see what people had to say about his music. He even made a remix of Justin Bieber's song, Baby for a remix contest we held (and he won). This artist was the Miami based producer, Tyord.
It has been a very cool thing to see him progress and grow in his music. I know there have been times when he, like all of us he was ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. But, I'm so glad he didn't. When listening to his music, you can tell this is his passion. This is what he loves. Tyord is an amazingly inspiring musician and I am glad to call him a close friend.

Hey my friend! Thanks so much for the time! How are things going?
Yo! Thanks for having me do something for Svnset Waves again. I've been good. Same old same old.
How would you describe your music to someone who had never heard it?
Well back when I first started doing music I use to tell people that I sound kind of like XXYYXX, but only because that was the only artist people really knew back then before the future scene started going more public. Now, with the new style I'm going for with these remixes, I guess I would say "emotional trap" with more emphasis on vocals than hard synth chords and melodies in traditional and festival trap.
Where did you come up with the name Tyord?
Tyord was a graffiti name I chose back around 2010 to join NBF, the recruiting crew of TCP. I never went through with the crew since I left the art high school in downtown Miami I was attending to focus on music.
Art has always been a key part of your life... Graffiti, painting, graphic design, and now music. How do you feel all of the different art forms tie together?
All the different art forms I've been involved with have made significant impacts on my music. I design all my own work and sometimes even do my own photography and video editing e.g. the image for this interview. But I think the most influential art form that I have led over into my music is my work with painting; all black, simple yet interesting and full.
You just released your 3 track EP, Winters Wither With Her. What is the story behind it?
There's a lot behind that EP. Each song kind has its own story that directly and indirectly ties into the other. "Winters", which I sampled "Ice Dance" by Danny Elfman and "I'll Be There" by Jackson 5, is about something or someone that you've known for such a long time that you know something bad is bound to happen to it or them, but you never know when or what will happen, so you just try to cherish every moment you have. "Wither", which I sampled "Romance Is Dead" by Parkway Drive, is about that moment when you first hear the bad news and everything else just goes down hill from there. Things fall apart, the people you know and love fall apart…you fall apart. Finally, "With Her", which is all my original work including all instruments and vocals, is the conclusion to the relationship that was there for "Winters". But its not like a break-up. Its more like knowing that there is an impending tragedy like how I mentioned in "Winters", but this time you know what it is and when its going to happen so you're just trying to make time go slow until every things done. Until she's gone.
You are with the Paris based label, Moose Records. There is so much good talent over there. How do you feel to be a part of the things they are doing?
Pretty good. I've always loved Moose and everyone on there is a homie. Unfortunately, they are over-seas, so they can't really help me with booking shows. For this reason I have also recently joined XYZA, a Miami based booking group with some mad cool producers on it who I do shows with.
You have a great talent for remixing. How does remixing and editing songs progress our music scene?
To be honest, remixing is how I progress with my own style. I learned everything from remixing and then apply what I learned from remixing into my originals. As the music scene entirely, remixing gives us a foundation for the identity of all the music we do and where to branch it off to. I can't think of any artists of this music scene who would do or has done a remix or edit of a Tiesto song. But most of us would for sure go and download that R.Kelly acapella, chop it up over a loop of a guitar snippet sampled from Emancipator, and add some 808 drums.
What are some of your biggest goals as a musician?
SHOWS SHOWS SHOWS!!! I dig producing. But my heart is in performing. I want to play with all the dope artists at all the dopest festivals and events and venues.
You always have amazing things up your sleeve. What can we look forward to in the coming months?
Well, for now I'm releasing a remix once every month for my "Tyord // Remixes 2014" EP. "They Say" by Kilter was my first one to drop. Not sure which one I will drop next but it's either my remixes of "Clouds" by Female, "Sleepless" ft. Jezzabell Doran by Flume, "Eyes For You" by Chrome Sparks & Steffaloo, or "Time" by Hans Zimmer (Satellite Empire remix). Starting next year I'm thinking of working on an EP…maybe finishing up "Rituals Religions Relations", but I am unsure about that as of now.
Thanks so much man! Keep up the good work!
No problem! Thanks for having me.
