day 91 - 3/31/24 - convergence

today is both easter and trans day of visibility! the egg-themed holiday on the trans day! how perfect is that?

so here's a transgender lighting creature coming out of a trans flag easter egg. is it a bird? is it a bunny? :)

somehow, that illusion felt fitting here - something about transition, something about blurring the lines of a binary perhaps.

ok so this one requires a bit of context.

so, i had a dream where there was a new art trend on the internet.

basically, people would draw a chick and a fish, and caption it "that's chick and that's fish." because those are their names. but you had to draw them like this.

chick had to be a circle with two little stick legs, and fish had to be a circle with a triangle for a tail. you could not draw them any other way.

this does not leave a lot of room for variation or artist interpretation. but for some reason this went absolutely viral. everyone was drawing fish and chick.

so in that dream i decided to join in the trend, and make fish and chick my monsters for two days. i posted one monster called "that's chick", and then the next day i reblogged it with the next monster, named "that's fish".

what cruel being would condemn this poor creature to such a fate? horrifically malformed, unable to move.

sad.. anyway do you reckon you could play tetherball with this thing

day 11 - 1/11/24 - snoose

i wasn't expecting to do a good monster today, but i'm actually very happy with this one! :D i realized, i started setting high standards for myself as my monsters have been increasing in quality rapidly (compare wolfpack to snow abomination - snow abomination has shading, highlights, and neat lines, whilst wolfpack is... not that) - it's causing me to feel like i have to put in that much effort every time, or people will think i've gotten lazy and start unfollowing me (which really isn't something i should be worried about but that's a bit difficult)

day 49 - 2/18/24 - poor abandoned child

we found you all alone, surrounded by rubble. what is your story, poor abandoned child? who did this to you? the box affixed to your back - is it there to help you or hurt you? it can't be removed now - you can no longer live without it.

what happened here, poor abandoned child? why are you all that remains?

it literally doesn't even know its head is shaped like a halberd how can you be mean to this thing.

please don't judge me for this one i hate it so much. birds are so hard to draw i promise i tried i'm sorry

i could've called this one "jackdaw & hyde" but i didn't so really you should be thanking me

this one's been in my head for a while but has been executed so poorly. its supposed to have the proportions of like a chubby lil sparrow and be a fiendish little critter who is up to no good. if you can't tell, it is black and white, parted down the middle. think ENA.
