Happy Fakemon Friday! Unnamed, Dark/Dragon type 'Mon.

Glass Cannon Sp. Attacker. In addition to STAB Dark and Dragon moves, knows moves like Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam. More design notes under the cut:

I found a palette I absolutely LOVED, it spoke to me with the lil guy's design! From there I just bumped up the saturation and let the design sort of float to me. Imps, jesters, mischief... I really like how it turned out. Returned to my lasso color-block sketch method for these to amazing effect.

I think it would get an ability like Magus to boost sp. atk moves, so theyre almost LIKE STABs. I'd balance that out with it only gets a few really good ones via TM list.

WYVERN

Any village swineherd who has heard more than a single story about dragons is likely to come away with some half-formed impression of their grandeur. There's an argument to be made that this plays into the scheming of the dragons themselves - famously vain creatures that they are - but there is simply no denying that, by and large, drakes are a noble breed of great physical beauty. Chromatics: vast, snarling, scheming creatures, studded with scales of scarlet and topaz... Metallics: even larger in size but wise and meditative, sheathed in lustrous snakeskin like spun silver and gold... even the so-called lesser breeds, shoots that deviate from the stem of dragon-kind, usually retain some faded glimmer of their more magnificent cousins. Usually. There is, they say, no beast that will quicker dispel the illusion of dragons as creatures of nobility as the Wyvern. Like a gangly, embarrassing cousin they are rarely acknowledged by the "true" breeds, yet they are far more numerous, which speaks, perhaps, to their pigeon-like success at populating the world. Compared to the average Chromatic, the Wyvern is a stunted, bony parody of a dragon. Its body is barely larger than an elephant, its intelligence subhuman. Its scales range from mottled brown, through half-formed greens to pale, sandy yellows and whites, depending on its surroundings - the idea of camouflage is anathema to full-blooded dragons, but Wyverns will take their advantages wherever they can get them. Finally, and most markedly, Wyverns at some point deviated from their greater kin in the loss of their draconic forelimbs. This seems not to have affected them much, however, as they continue to scramble about deftly using their wings. - Wyverns are great! This was fun to draw. I hope you like it! Joe's tumblr

you’ve opened a gate by mentioning FFX and particularly Anima as a summon! what are your feelings on Valefor?

VALEFOR (Final Fantasy X)

You say that as if I haven’t already done a review for something from FFX on this blog, anon. But yeah, LETS DO THIS.

INTRODUCTION: This monster is one of the summons available to Yuna, particularly, it’s the first one she obtains.

PROS:♥ Valefor has like... the perfect amount of spikes vs curves. Look at her little two toed feets. It’s elegant, but just a little dangerous, which is like, the perfect look for some otherworldly summoned monster.♥ These wings? They’re excellent. The long spines, the hooked ends, they don’t need to be practical because this is a MAGIC monster, and they just went for Look.♥ Valefor has very nice colors in a game full of absolutely insane, muddled color schemes, which makes this simple, warm three toned palette even more impressive.♥ Valefor seems to be the dragon equivalent of a feathered dinosaur, which is always very good and excellent, from the beak bird face to the feathers fading into a scaly lizard tail.♥ I have no idea what those wacky claw things coming off her chest, but if they weren’t there, Valefor would just basically be a big colorful wyvern. Which is like, fine, honestly I like a wyvern more than a standard dragon with four limbs. BUT, this is a wacky fantasy game, so these big curled claw things? Nice addition.

CONS:♥ I mean, you notice that the pros section is all fairly straightforward. I LIKE Valefor’s design, but that’s it. Valefor sure used to be a human woman (FFX summons are made from ghosts, basically), but for all intents and purposes, she’s basically Yuna’s pet dog.

♥ I just noticed her torso looks like a ladies torso complete with titties, which like, come on. You don’t have to put titties on the dragon to convince us she’s a lady.

RATINGS:MONSTRUOUSNESS: 8/10Valefor is pretty completely non-human, but it’s still basically a very nice, fancy dragon.

FUCKABILITY: 0/10dON’T FUCK YUNA’S PET DOG?

PERSONAL RATING: 5/10Valefor is exactly adequate as you’d expect the starter summon to be. It’s FINE, but like.... it’s just fine. She’s a good dog, Bront.

I wanted some ice/dragon types that I actually liked. Are they as high-concept as Bax? No. Sometimes you just need a bear dragon that's blue.
