Types of Homes
There are different types of homes depending on their structure, location, purpose and people occupying them. Some of the types of homes are studio houses, condos, single-family homes, townhouses, mobile homes, rv, mobile homes, cabins, mobile cabins and vacation homes. The most common type of home is a single-family home. The first two are the conventional and the condominium type of home. Other kinds of houses are barns, cabins and ranches. In addition, there are villas, apartments, townhouses, condos, mobile homes and mobile garages.
Homes vary in terms of materials used to make them. The most common type of materials used for homes are wood and stone. Other materials such as concrete, steel and aluminum are also used but they are used in lower numbers compared to wood and stone. A house or apartment is designed as per the individual's requirements. So, if a person wants to build his own home he has the freedom to do so, but he may have to pay a higher price for his house.
Home improvement is another word used for remodeling the home. It can be done on the interior as well as the exterior of a house. This kind of renovation work can be done with the help of contractors or craftsmen who are licensed and bonded.
The types of houses can also differ depending on their size and construction. One of the common types of houses is the ranch type of house. They are made up of a large number of rooms that are connected by open rooms.
The most popular types of homes are mobile houses that can be moved around when and where they are required. A vacation house is also another common type of home.

The garden area is a place that gives privacy to a homeowner. Garden areas are usually contain lawns and shrubs that provide shade and beauty. A garden also provides an opportunity to relax and unwind and enjoy nature.
A home also has an attic or basement. They act as storage places for the things that are not required by the owner. They are a place where a family can store things like cars, boats, furniture, tools, recreational vehicles, jewelry and other important items that are rarely used.
Types of Homes

Some families' houses are built as more than one unit and there are houseboats and other types of homes designed for vacationing. One of the most common types of campers is the camper unit. These campers are usually designed with a bed, a table, and a work table and there is no permanent foundation. These campers are often called mobile homes, camper homes or motor homes.

Some of these mobile homes are designed so that they resemble a standard home and are built to be used year around by an entire family. They are usually built on trailers that are driven by an electric, gas, water or fuel source.
Cabins: This is the home of the individual. This type of home is usually very comfortable, yet it can also be very private. It can consist of a small kitchenette, a bedroom, a living area with a couch and a table, a large living room or family room, a bathroom, and other additional room. Cabins can also be very luxurious as the owners can custom build the interior of their home.
Rentals: There are many places where individuals can find mobile homes, cabins and mobile homes for rent. There are companies that rent out these types of homes. These rentals are usually very expensive as the houses tend to be smaller than a hotel room or even a townhouse. In addition, there are also companies that rent out recreational vehicles, trailers, RV's and campers.
There are also several mobile home parks in some cities where individuals can rent out their mobile homes, cabins and RV's. These parks also typically are located close to shopping malls and entertainment complexes.
Mobile homes can be purchased and paid for on a monthly basis, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Some homeowners can decide to pay their home off in one lump sum. In some cases, they may be financed using a mortgage loan or a home equity loan.

Modern. This home style features flat roofs and simple lines. It embraces the notion of industrialism as a way to improve life through efficient and affordable materials and construction. In that sense you'll see the idea of less is more, in which the architecture only features what is required for the design. There are strong linear elements in modern designs; beams, cutouts, windows, staircases, fireplaces, and other structural elements assist in creating this linear inspired space.
Colonial. As settlers from different countries came to the US they brought distinctive architectural influences with them. The common theme of this style home was an emphasis on functionality with minimal design. A colonial home today is generally rectangular with living space on the first floor and bedrooms on the second. A particularly popular style of colonial home is the Spanish style. This can be characterized by thick walls, shaded loggias, and prominent sculpted stone features. Spanish style homes utilize muted earth tones of red clay or ochre on the exterior walls that are covered with stucco.
Victorian. This style doesn't refer to a single style, but rather the era that these homes were built. This style emerged during the Victoria era (1880-1910) and in the US the name that comes to mind is Queen Ann. This style has characteristics of a steeply sloped roof with patterned shingles, large brick chimneys, and ornate front porches. It has lacey ornate woodwork, tall narrow windows, and combinations of up to eight exterior colors.
Tudor. This style home is loosely based on English building traditions common during the Tudor era (1485-1603). Tudors became popular in the 1920s then again in the 1970s. They tend to have a lavish design with asymmetry as a prominent feature. The interior is distinguished by low and narrow door ways, low ceilings, and paneling on the walls. This style home is among the more expensive home types, costing more than 2 and a half times more than the average ranch style.
Ranch. This is a single story structure with a low pitched roof and typically deep eaves. This style became popular in 1945 and continued to spread across the country. These homes are particularly defined by their low to the ground build and lack of extravagant internal and external features. The style merges modernist ideas and notions of the American West to create a very informal and casual living style.

Craftsman Bungalow. Well, we have to start with our co-founder Karin's first home - the one that inspired our entire company! She lived in the most adorable white bungalow. This style of home is simple in its decorative expression of structural elements. It's one of the most common home styles that emerged from the British Arts & Crafts movement and still remains among the most popular in the US. The Arts & Crafts movement emphasized simple forms and natural materials which is why you will see open floor plans, organic colors, and the use of natural materials. Common features of the bungalow include low-pitch roof lines on a gabled roof, deep overhanging eaves, exposed rafters, and a front porch beneath an extension of the main roof.
French eclectic. We adore how clean and classic this style is. In fact, French eclectic type homes became fashionable in the 1920s as knowledge of French architecture and the appreciation for French culture increased. The style is rectangular in plan and symmetrical in design. It has a massive hip roof, exterior cladding of brick, and windows highlighted by decorative shutters. The detailing varies from formal classically inspired door surrounds with pilaster or pediments.
American Farmhouse. This house style is influenced by Colonial and Victorian styles and is a less ornate version of the two styles. The American Farmhouse is often associated with the Midwest where it was popularized in the 19th century. Characteristics of the farmhouse style are asymmetrical plan with dormers and gables, a shingle or metal roof, tall windows, a wraparound porch, and lap siding with simple moldings.
Federal. This style marked a time of reformation for American homes from functional to stylized, stately, spacious and comfortable. The stylistic roots of this style home can be found in classical Roman architecture. It was favored in the US during the 18th and 19th centuries, although you can see some of the Federalist details in homes today. They are characterized by a large two-story brick facade with massive chimneys, centered front door, dentil moldings, elliptical gable windows, and oval rooms.
Prairie. This is considered the first architectural style of American origin. Its features of bold lines and open multi-functional spaces are a direct relation to the ornate and compartmentalized Victorian style. Prairie homes usually have low-pitched roofs, overhanging eaves, horizontal lines, a central chimney, and open floor plans. The core ideas of this style are widely attributed to famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
